@notsure Still going to wait and base my opinions on what I get before watching these vids. I don't do tricks and speed isn't a concern for me so will see how I feel it rides really.

I expect it to ride differently but between weight, ride modes not being alike and the footpads altered I expect a lot of people won't truly lock in with it initially. Might explain a lot of the "wobbly" comments I've been seeing. I mean if anyone's gonna complain if it's wobbly it'll be me lol.

On another note I've been seeing a lot of ghosting posts crop up so might be worth tying a lead to the board in case it spots a squirrel as you dismount ;)

@lia I'm the same kind of rider . . . just carving around 17 mph, mostly pavement and hard packed dirt and gravel, no tricks. Been riding the Pint X for a few days now and it definitely feels wobbly compared to my XR and I have a treaded Hoosier on instead of the round tire it came with. I really don't mind it TOO much and I'm starting to get used to keeping the speed under 15 mph with the aggressive pushback in the upper 16+ mph range. It's still fun, but not AS fun as my XR. Sounds like the GT will have more power/torque than the XR along with the carvey/wobbliness of the Pints. I'm a bit (ok, a lot) heavier than you at 185+ lbs, so hoping I can squish down the tire a bit so it's not as round, yet still get the 20+ mile range Jake's buddy in the video is getting (he's about the same weight as I am).

I can't help but watch the Float Life videos as I live right there and they're riding the GT on the EXACT paths that I ride (so fun to watch) . . . albeit, way more technically than me and hitting bumps and curbs that I simply go around!

        GT-S > GT > Pint X > XR > +

@onedangt Agreed, Pint is very wobbly compared to the XR. First spin was laps on my carpet and although I appreciated the tighter turning circle it was quite the board to control.

With the range assuming Jake wasn't ripping hard on and offroad I wonder how FM got the 32mile number. Think once I get mine I'll be seeing if I can crush out 32miles on my usual "cruise" route that's not super brutal to give me the best chance of replicating some decent range.

I haven't weighed myself in years but last I checked I was 57kg (126lbs) but I've definitely put on some weight since then so probably a bit more since then. Totally muscle though... totally... >.>

Gotta see you do some laps on those trails then, see if you can line up your laps with theirs to see how you compare :D

            Now THAT would be embarrassing!

@lemur Bob Nicholson has taken apart their GT and attempted an XR hub transplant only to find FM have indeed modified the stator... not for performance but seemingly just to not work.

Don't have the link to the video but Duhherroooo posted a screenshot on reddit.

Bob Nicholson took apart the motor live. The magnets and bearings are the exact same size in the GT as XR and Pint. The only difference that doesnt allow it to work is the lip on the axle has been extended by around 1mm (where I circled) causing the motor lid to not fit

Now.... in theory if the lip is just extended by 1mm you could in theory slap it in a lathe and take that 1mm off but... not sure many of us have a big ass lathe laying around to turn that D:

@lia Just watching the live stream too. Doesn't look good. I have a lathe large enough, but may be a one way procedure.

@lemur True, using a spacer to revert could work but might also come with it's own issues.

I'm sure some crazy floater will do it further down the line where parts are easier to come by.

oh shit that's fucked now! thats really bad news... i'm guessing a cr2032 won't quite do it either. servicing just got way trickier.

                          XR's got what plants crave!

@notsure Maybe there is a procedure or "keep alive" dongle that keeps the controller/bms alive during servicing?

@lemur Maybe, I wonder if they pop the MR30 connector for the charge port off and conenct into that to retain power or connect up to the test pads somehow.

At worst I guess they just deal with it and re-flash it during re-assembly.

This would be just another brief ghosting video if not to remark this part of OP comment:
" - ... the GT did roll several times and once it landed right side up the motor did not disengage and it continued to take off as you can see in the footage. ... - "

Lots of GT ghostings get registered in FB these days. Surely, gotta stay critical in context. As some might be just bummering for fun. But guess yourself:
                                    GT_ghosting.jpg
To put that in comparision -- really feels like this (seemingly less tested) concave front pad has some disagreement with 33°F [~0°C] conditions down to material wise. As this seems to be common line with all somewhat reasonable posts.
-> Surely the thrill is overwhealming out of the box .. but with all those stated experiences now .. I'd suggest bringing this thing to a first ride out in a wild priorly. For multiple times AND variable conditions. Before ever ... EVER .. ride it in urban structures.

EDIT: By the time I finished this forum post of mine "8 comments" turned into 51 comments @FB.

@sirgu What… damn that is terrifying!
I feel like FM managed to anger the production gods. In making a board harder to repair to save their image on faulty mods they in turn created a single wheeled reincarnation of Christine thats evidently out for blood.

I joked to Float Carve Ride I’ll be keeping mine on a lead but I think I might now.

In the cases I’ve seen or heard of these have been irregular dismounts. Float Carve Ride did a quickstop and Zack here fell off while it was moving. It sounds like the only way to really prevent this is a standard heel/toe lift to force it to disengage before the tail drops. That being said it won’t do anything for Zack’s case nor is it acceptable to fear a runaway board.

LOL, I don't get that reference.

                                        But yeah,
... I haven't spotted anyone to claim failed heel-lift dismount attempt so far. (Which is the remaining favour to front concave pad & sensors not to be the case of particular ghosting issue.)

I'd really loved to see some GT owner to do the test as following:
1.) Go for a steady LONG ride in equal/below 33°F/0°C temps.
2.) With stubborn cramped ankles ride straight off the 5+miles/8+km WITHOUT ever heel-lifting / off-dropping / dismounting of any kind.
3.) Then moderately breaking down to 0 mph/kmh and attempt heel-lift straight on spot.
-If the reaction "wtf?!..it's not dismounting!" is not present, then the front pad & pressure-sensors will be forgiven really.

Thus leading us to the guess, the demon lies in board electronics, accelerometer etc ... because, yes, all of them have been irregular dismounts / power-stops (with board roughly angeled while tire momentary wheelslippin' on the ground).

Film about a car that's possessed and hunts people.

I feel the ghosting is much like when someone fails a griptape change and causes at least one sensor to stick active. Guessing in the cold the pad might shrink a little and keep a side active because it doesn't deform back as quick.

It could also be due to the new sensors, which if that's the case is pretty bad considering similar sensors have been used in the DIY scene without much issue even on kush and concave pads.

@lia and @Sirgu It is a film to be sure, but to internalize the horror of it all, it is helpful to know the film is based on a Stephen King book of the same name.
