      Just spotted this… on YouTube...

      GT-S battery swap.

I’m really hoping this filters down to the XR

I had never figured one day FM on their official channel would show step-by-step opening up guide down to bare PCB.
But still ... they sooo quickly slip over barely mentioning 'Service & Registration -> Battery Validation' part of the video. One can wonder why.

This is certainly an imperfect improvement. But, I like to be thankful for any improvement, it's a step along the road. Thank you, California, for passing a right to repair law.

To compare some pricing. Mario charges $730 for a pack with 36 P45B's & Ennoid's are $235 (which is a bit overpriced); the GT-S pack has 26 P45B's + BMS + housing for $850. So, it doesn't seem like FM is charging an outlandish markup to me. They are certainly making decent money on this, though, given that they are purchasing in bulk, mass produced, and at cost. So, don't let anyone convince you this isn't a profit center for them, but it isn't a ripoff.

FM could have saved money by selling just the battery, but I can totally respect their decision to sell a consumer product replacement part this way.

@puzz360 I'm pretty sure that the XR has reached end of life with FM, with limited support.

@lemur I think that might be the case. Then again it might be a huge mistake to neglect what was probably one of the most popular boards.

@lemur It does seem like that.

Their spares site has replacement batteries for all models except XR, Plus and the original onewheel.

                  That's a shame...

Well, it might push even more people to the VESC side...

@biell as much as I dislike California, I will give them a pass for their right to repair law
I'm Texan if you can't tell

I would say this would be a good option to buy a battery if you are going vesc, but you'd be contending with FM's BMS

113 volts?! I could lick that!

@loaffette The only board that I know of where FM guarantees the cell types is the GT-S. So, I would recommend going with someone who advertises the cells anyway, so you know exactly what kind of battery you have.
