£500 ($650) a good price for a Plus?

Maybe just tighter QC or maybe the holes are smaller before they hot install the insert?
That might be the case. I bet they made it smaller on both the controller and bumper which then caused the XR bumpers to split for being too small. That might be it!
I just outright removed those bumper one on the XR after mine split completely. The controller ones on the Plus I'll put back since those kinda hold the bumper on whilst the top ones make removing the bumper a pain because you need to lift the pad.

Left a space in the stands only to have filled it already. Oops :)
Sure suuuuuuure, like you didn't plan to fill it! . . . Might want to add another spot, I have a nice looking XR that's not getting much floating since I got my GT that you could add to your collection, LOL.
-
@onedangt Aha busted. I'll admit the GT was meant to occupy the spot, then when I cancelled it I figured it'd be spare at least a little bit longer either filled with a GT later or a custom board.
Was tempted to change up the appearance of the Plus but after getting the feeling the guy was still attached to it I think I'll keep it as is. Maybe they'll see it in a post/video one day and smile seeing it still rolling.
Good to hear you're getting lots of usage out of the GT, is it wearing in nicely?
I couldn't possibly take your XR D: Wouldn't you want it for a backup or something. -
@lia Well, I took the XR for a ride a couple days ago and all the feelings of not enough torque came back really quick, especially when hitting obstacles and going uphill. I'm keeping it for now, but the GT is just so much more fun to ride, not to mention the range! I also noticed foot fatigue from the flatter XR pads, but could just be I'm getting more used to the concave pads. I can go for 20+ miles on the GT, never getting off the board whereas on the XR I was hurting after 7 miles or so. I do recall going 12+ miles on the XR non-stop, but still had some foot pain.
The GT is breaking in nicely, I have about 350 miles on it. The rougher ride is still noticeable, but the tire is carving better as it ages. I've tried down to 14 psi, but ended up at about 17 (I weigh 185 lbs) as a compromise between tire wear, mileage, and ride-ability.
As for my XR, it's got almost 7200 miles on it but looks about as nice as the + you just bought! I do mostly cruising and some off road, but nothing that will knock me off the board, lol. At least not intentionally. Has original bearings, but still rides as smooth as when I got it. The first battery lasted 1900 miles, at which point I had FM replace it. The second battery is still going strong, so 5300 miles and counting, and almost as much range as when it was installed. Just goes to show, one bad cell!
Actually haven't decided to sell my desirable 4209 XR, but if I do I'll let folks on this forum have first dibs. :)
-
@onedangt I can imagine. Lots of riders saying they don't worry about nosedives thanks to the extra torque and more obvious pushback. Stock concave was a good move especially for people like me that don't change stuff till they brake.
Sounds good, do you feel it's "top heavy" as I've heard some suggest? I kinda get what they mean but not actually sure if it's actually something noticable.
7200 miles is a lot and to look as good as that I'm impressed. Looking fresh~ :D Happy to hear your bearings are still holding out. Mine are stock too and don't seem to be going anywhere soon. Still on my stock pack but it is in dire need of replacing. 4208 but I haven't surrendered the bad cell curse apparently.
Appreciate you giving the forum first dibs if you do choose to sell it. It'll certainly find a welcoming home knowing us lot.

I'd describe it more as lifted, but similar to my X that I was riding on vacation even with the Hoosier on the X. Add in the tire hardness and you bounce around more, but the extra torque (apex only for me, as was delirium) is so much more forgiving and the grip is so good, that I think I've only lost my stance twice since I got it.
-
@Lia eager for expanding ur collection a little more?
There's a near pristine 4211 XR on sale in UK. 6 miles [~9,5km], 1200€ [~1005£/~1265$] -
@onedangt that looks amazing for 7200mi., you must not ride the trails Dax does.
def let us know if you let it go I'm interested since my og 4209 started throwing error 21. -
@sirgu Aha don't tempt me. I think I saw that one, amazing price if legit. I think I'll stick to rescuing busted boards. Cheaper and fun to work on. That and I'm still after a GT eventually, the FOMO is real.
Been really enjoying just rolling round on the Plus. Feels different to the XR but not sure how much of that is the tire vs the battery characteristics. Bearings sound a bit dry so will be greasing those up when I get it apart again to replace those missing bolts and inserts.
-
@lia The Plus definitely has less power, you should be able to feel it. It rides like an XR, only weaker. That is why I always toy with the idea of growlering my Plus, the smaller wheel would pep it up a bit.
-
@biell Agreed, I did notice on my first ride that instead of reaching pushback I was nearly nosediving through it when taking it on my usual XR ride but with the Plus instead. Had to adjust how many beans I gave certain corners and obstacles ;)
However the actual feel of the ride is different but in a good way that I don't think is just the tire. I know my XR feels sluggish compared to other XR's so might be me just noticing that. Regardles very fun to ride and happy to have it part of the family.

I can vouch for this, I've only ridden my XR once since I got the GT. I just feel so much safer on the GT, even though I tend to cruise around at 18/19 mph! There always seems to be extra torque in the tank, so to speak, to keep the board under your feet. My Pint X is gonna feel so slow with the 16 mph hard pushback when I get back to it in May.

I'm on the verge of making the decision. And you're right, I'm not much of a trail rider. My trails are 80% paved bike paths with 20% mostly hard pack dirt and gravel. I think I've done maybe 5 curb drops ever and I really don't bonk or nudge unless absolutely necessary, LOL. I'll post right here if I decide to sell. Probably the best buyer would be in the US so shipping would be reasonable.

yeah im on the fence too. im worried about these things beings lemons a year out of warranty, but that extra stability at speed looks appealing. im not eager to hurt myself. slick or treaded?
-
@notsure Treaded . . . still a bit bouncy and I think it's broken in, but just getting used to it.

I got to let it go, have to move out of the place we've been living for 16yrs as the landlord is selling out, in this economy my rent is going to triple for a 2bdrm apt after living on 7 acres w/ a 12x60 mobile. probably have to sell my sage pint,:(
-
@b0ardski Sorry to hear that :( Hope you can find something good and cheap without needing to sell stuff.
