XR battery recommendations

Anyone know the options for 4212 users? JW Batteries seems to have gone dark while they litigate over the chip. More specifically, do aftermarket batteries get errored because of the higher voltage or something else? Surely the BMS doesn't read capacity, does it?
I just don't know. This subject has been bothering me since last year lol. If I can swap an aftermarket battery with stock voltage, I might do that or just go VESC and put all the FM guts back in the stock rails.
Furthermore, I'm invested in the XR. I don't see a GT in my future anytime soon.

Anyone over the forum has further insights about WYRD Concepts?
https://wyrdconcepts.myshopify.com/
They are new on market yet presumably stepping on heels of CBXR and JW Batteries. As these two recently gain a lot of mixed feelings and revaluations in their pros & cons. -
@sirgu Based on their location and "About Us" story, I am pretty sure these are former JW employees. So, I would expect the same build quality with hopefully better service. Just responding to questions would be better service, so the JW bar was set pretty low there.

@lia this is a thread I will be keeping an eye on.
My mate and I were both discussing this possible future problem the other day...
I think we both get to around 20% at the moment.
He does a bit more mileage than me so will likely bottom our sooner 😬 -
@puzz360 Mine was giving up at 20% about 2-3 years ago so you might get a bit more life out of them yet. After I hit that mark I began babying the battery and my charge habits which helped.
For my super long rides I relied on VnR so it wasn't that noticeable till recently where even the usual longer local rides I found myself coasting pre-Captain Morgan on the last leg.
I might do a rebuild given the price savings and share the process. I've got 2 boards in bits opposite me and don't quite fancy doing it yet and adding Slushy to the mix.

@lia I'm half keeping an eye out for a donor board.
Not in any particular rush but I'm sure something will come up at some point in time. It'd be nice to have something in the locker ready to go should the need arise
Reassuring to know I should have a bit more time yet
Cheers 👍

so here's an odd battery related experience. I was riding around the neighborhood today. I had charge the battery to full, and then I go do my usual route. I stop for a few minutes to talk to a neighbor while the board is on. To get to that locations i have to go uphill a littel bit then downhill a little bit. After the conversation i take it to the top of the street which is maybe a couple hundred feet in elevation at most from where i started, and proceed down a sorta longish downhill street back down to the original elevation, so maybe 200 feet total elevation change. As i near the bottom of the hill I start getting regen warnings. Normally I'm at most 96% or 97% battery if it happens at all. When i look at the app it says 100% and even the most mild downhill grade is triggering the regen warnings. I immediately slow down and start carving to try and drain it away from 100% and it takes a good quarter to half mile to get to 99%. I then headed for another hill to drain it down below 97% which is my regen warning level. I don't have anymore warnings after that, and I finish my ride, but when i get home I plug in the charger and I get one last regen warning and the charger light is green. The app says it'll take 70 hours to recharge, so I unplug it, and replug it in, and it starts charging normally. This is actually the second time that plugging in the charger didn't trigger the charging cycle. I thought it might be some gunk on the connection the first time. I always ride with a charger plug. How close to doom did I brush? Should I be worried? I don't ride all that aggressively or do tricks. I normally heel lift to dismount these days.

@notsure Kinda stumped with this one especially with the 70 hour charge time estimate and what triggers that.
I know regen warnings on my board are kinda flakey fresh off a charge when doing a downhill in the first 5% but I haven’t given it much thought otherwise. Anyone else got any ideas?
-
@lia plugged the charger in today after a brief ride around the block. app said 80% charge. got an error 21 warning on the app. got one the other day too the same way: just after plugging in the charger. is that a charger issue or am I in trouble? only 1600 miles on the 4212.
-
@notsure Is the board powered on before connecting the charger or completely off? I would expect it to do this if the board was powered on already but while off that seems odd.
-
@lia on already w app connected.
-
@notsure My 4208 doesn’t do this but I think it’s normal on the newer models to help indicate to the user why the board has disabled itself. If it did it without it being turned on then that would be odd and maybe a sign something is up.
E21 when no charger is connected is the biggest concern but if it’s only when charging while powered on I think your board is fine :)
