Been a while since I took a spill and wow did the fates have one in mind for me.

(Trigger warning. Sorta graphic detail and a bit of blood)

Cruising back at 10PM in the cold after a spontaneous desire try out a new 50km route I just found. Anyway long story short, just like my hang time, I took a 25km/h slide that shredded my jeans and took a nasty dime sized hole into my knee. Maybe 5+mm deep just shy of the bone. No pics because it was dark and well the blood wasn't helping. Also... it's grim lmao.

However my helmet and wrist guards did their job as I ragdolled along the road like the muppet I am.
Taxi to home to drop off my gear then to A&E to make sure I wasn't just thugging out something more serious.

Lost enough skin on the knee that there's nothing to stitch (yippe, I hate stitches) so it'll take up to 3 weeks to heal from the bottom up. Hand was swollen but no fractures. Me and the nurse got a giggle out of how surprisingly fine I seemed despite the crater in my knee. Gotta love UK healthcare. Hadn't even sat down and was called to be seen. Took no more than 30 minutes to sanitize my wounds, pull the road and jeans from the hole, xray me and double check before sending me on my way with some replacement bandages and a a giggle with the staff.

Pic just after getting a fancy bandage. My blood knows no mercy and wants to get out. Got a gnarly and legit tear in the jeans so not a complete loss.

So anyway... do as I say not as I do. Wear pads!!!

@wheelwizard I bounced back pretty quick thankfully. Went for a little spin earlier but defo feel my body aching a loooooot 😅
Defo could have been much worse. Helmet once again came in clutch and stopped yet another whack.
