The point about the controller being collateral damage is what gets me. Losing the wrist guards is one thing, but a controller going down with you means the whole ride ends early no matter how you land. That year off sounds like the hard part, though. Coming back after that long is its own kind of hurdle — muscle memory and confidence don't return at the same speed. Hope the next fall, whenever it comes, is a gentler one.

@theadman -- That was on a Onewheel Plus. Crashed at 25; no crash at 24.6 mph. All that summer I AVERAGED over 20 mph. Lately, I barely edge into the twenties.

So I managed to become a beta tester for the haptic buzz for VESC.

It’s a trip hearing and feeling the motor buzz, but it only feels like if someone strapped a vibration motor to my board and kept spinning it

As someone who skated through the 90's and on, helmets just weren't a big part of our culture. It wasn't until X-Games started making everything bigger for television that helmets were deemed necessary for skateboarding. Never have I ever owned a skate helmet until I bought a Onewheel... And I hated it lol. (Yes, it was Triple 8.) No ventilation, clumsy fit, uncomfortable and top heavy.

Didn't see my brand on the tested list but I use IXS for mountain biking so naturally transferred to Onewheeling too. Recently bought a FF and love it even more than the half shell. Seems to duct in air more effectively, still super light weight and all the certifications.

@s-leon Glad you managed to get a ride in before the snow! I can't fathom having snow in March, I barely just got my shorts and skirts back out here on my little island.

Happy to hear you're doing well with the cycling too. I'm impressed, almost envious since I used to ferry my board around in the Craft&Ride backpack on my eBike and I barely managed!

@s1000pre The problem may be a shorted out mosfet in the controller, effectively shorting one of the 3 phase windings causing a drag even when the board is off. It's not a easy repair and worst yet, no XR mosfets in stock anywhere. That's my best guess. Fangs may not have done much in your case as the ND happened quick, giving you no chance of running it out.
