Floatwheel is back...
-
i find it interesting that none of the posts i've seen anywhere mention that the pricing is still pretty close to FM's pricing. everyone's excited about the repairability and general competition, but that covers the bulk of it.
-
Yea, the drama with rail design was already out there when whole website was nothing but big banner of trussed rail shadows. Almost like THIS.
@Lia I'm in the same boat with liking V1/Plus/XR modest looks above anything. If I had to make a choice .. I'm liking 'adv' (with the hint of Mustache Rails) rather than 'adv pro' (with Trussed Rails look-a-like). But the thickness of both boards appears on same league with GT.
First wtf impression from presentation was that enormous axle -- Better heat dissipation, questionably. How this compensates the circumstances of
huge bearing diameter = a lot of bearing balls = much more friction = less miles-per-charge ratio.
Exposed fins should do better cooling than semi-sealed hollow chambers with passive airflow. We really need this to put on tests by experts, lol.
I'm dumb enough not to have a point of view on claimed 'ferrotec STG fluid' used there. " 5x cooling capacity* " is already marked with symbol ' * ' ... which is rather alarming factor on chinese marketing gimmicks. :} -
@sirgu i love it! the crypto, the motor, everything about it... a shot across the bow... hopefully it spurs the economy more. what do u call a onewheel thats not a onewheel anyways?
-
More updates from Floatwheel.
They cover the reason for the use of crypto, the waterproofing of the boards and a bit more of a breakdown on some of the internals.
-
... and Jeff's impressions on everything.

@sirgu Jeff keeping things grounded on this. Critical yet optimistic where needed. I feel like he's being very cautious like I am with having any concrete takes on anything other than what we know so far.
I really hope Floatwheel hand out a few review samples soon. We really need to see these in the hands of reputable riders. Would at least boost the credibility.
-
@lia I just love how new this economy is. I feel really lucky to be able to watch so much development still happening.
i think that this young man and his team are stone cold killers and they're not to be trifled!
All they have to do is meet half of their claims and they'll be a competitor!
An open-source GT for $1800... uppercut, roundhouse!
Open source, when applied well, iterates so quickly, the rate of progress outstrips the state of tech. FM bogged themselves down with 'state'.
that 'statefulness' makes them inflexible imo. relies entirely on a legal apparatus that they have little control over.
just my opinion.

Seems like part of Floatwheel marketing is to consistently release explanatory clips after the launch. Well thought - to keep the thrill up. This time footsensor comparision (and more to come).

Gotta admit, everything Tony speaks is golden! If only all those claims and rational designs get approved and confirmed by reputable known riders. Oh .. the .. future! -
LOL.
And if someone been with blackout of all news from previous ~week or so.
:: Here is your 1 min summary of Floatwheel ::

I'm curious as to what the top speed of the adv model. The fastest I've seen a OW go was a GT and that was 30 MPH, and that was probably just a one-of-a-kind model, probably a good battery/controller/magic that board came with
It would be dangerous but FUN to see a OW go 40, or even 50
MAYBE EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY -
ok so apparently the top speed seems to be 22mph
I remember hearing somewhere that in Texas if something with a motor goes < and/or = 20 MPH, then it's legally defined as a vehicle of some kind...
probably why OW never makes/advertises a board that goes or exceeds 20mph -
@loaffette usually works in classes. in ny class 3 requires a valid license but no registration.
-
Looking forward to the Floatwheel torpedos... Wonder if they learned anything from the GT front concave footpads...
-
@lia did you have to stop the video and do a happy dance when you heard the part about test pads?
-
@biell
Am the happy, test paaaaads~
Was there any mention of an actual schematics coming soon though? -
@lia said :
... actual schematics coming soon though?
I would not be too surprised if those will be featured in course of time. Because high skilled people would map these down anyways. Dude speaks about everything with open cards. Simply marvelous.

@samuraipunch
Me and another friend at my college jokingly call the GT "defective missiles" -

How much praise about transparency can one video gain?* rhetorical question
It's all earned for sure. -
@sirgu nice!
Cant' wait to see what the floatwheels, however it sucks that they are having shipping delays..
-
Floatwheel ADV Pro ride video NOT by Tony/Floatwheel itself.
