Onewheel GT 6.5 inch tire solution (hopefully)

@lemur Oh I get it now, was so confused at first but this makes sense. Instead of modifying the GT stator by shaving off that extended lip you're just shimming the hub plate to it can sit on the extended lip.
That is so clever, I'd have never thought to do it that way! This is by far the best and least destructive method and I love it.
Call me stupid, but I still don't understand the idea...

@ed_co It does get confusing, but the new Onewheel GT has a 6.5 inch rim and tires are proprietary which you cannot buy from OW. You have to send the GT in to get a tire changed.
This adapter allows the 6 inch rim from a XR to be fitted to the GT and allows many styles of common 6 inch go kart tires from many sources. -

But I don't understand the solution. Are you planning to put the GT rotor inside the XR stator assuming all the magnets/space/configuration will be the same on both?
-
@ed_co The other way around, GT stator in a XR rotor (rim).

@ed_co Looks like there's no problem taking apart the motor.

Absolutelly, are you doing it?

@ed_co Picking up an expensive Snapon torx plus 45 right now to take the GT axle bolts off. One Snapon socket is the same price as a set of OTC TP sockets. I disconnected the GT motor , footpad cables, reconnected them and the board is still good.
-
@ed_co Did the conversion today, I have to make another shim as the present one is a little too thin, leaving too little axle endplay. It runs ,but can't upload a video.
-
@lemur this is absolutely stunning man!! Congrats, you did it!
-
@lemur lol yeah man thats fuckin awesome!

@lemur Amazing work!
For a vid I'd recommend uploading to Youtube and linking it here if you can.Would love to see this working. Barely a week after launch and the community is undoing these roadblocks.

Great work! How is the clearance on the footpad sides, looks marginal or just the img?
-
Any change/improvement/news? Overcoming the wheel issue sounds outstanding TBH.
The promised wheels from C&R and TFL sounds a very expensive solution, there would be a bump in the price for sure... (the new tooling system the companies could require for a custom solution makes it much more expensive). -
@maciak The clearance is close, The wheel is moved over to one side by 1/8" due to hub differences. The stock tire is very close to the footpads too.
