Cast 5" MTE hub now available from TFL..

Also available are the long awaited N52 magnets... Except... They're not curved!!
So naturally you might be wondering, 'if my magnets are currently curved':
- Can I replace them with straight ones?
- Are these just labeled differently?
- Does that feature even matter?
- Why so many magnets?
These are all good questions which I have no f-ing clue how to answer. The latest hub swap video appears to show a gts hub, which perhaps says- maybe... Let's channel the experts...

Maybe the brain trust here can help me out. I have a lot of questions about the MTE's and the various options. If anyone happens to know the answer to any of these questions, I would love to hear it. I was meaning to ask TFL, but if I can get some answers here it could help a lot of people out and help me write more knowledgeable questions to TFL.
- Does an MTE (billet and/or cast) affect motor temperature in any known way. Probably not appreciably, but maybe they designed it with heat transfer in mind and it does a better job. It looks like the hub sticks out further past the bearing, this might be for heat dissipation, I don't know. Conversely, maybe the less external surface area causes it to be hotter. Maybe the aluminum is different, and they chose the one with the best thermal transfer. If anyone has ideas, please let me know.
- Does anyone know if they plan to do a cast for XR hubs?
- How do the Magnets affect heat (if at all)? N52 are torquier and slower. Do they take more, less, or the same amount of current? I would trade some top-end speed for torque, but not if I had to sacrifice range and increase motor heat.
- Does anyone have a tire they really like for a 5" rim? I generally haven't liked TFL tires, so I'm not sure I would want to restrict my options.
Ever since the heat dome moved in, I have spent a lot of time between 75°C and 85°C and I'm trying to make that better, not worse. Thanks in advance.

I'm interested in one of these as long as the tire selection is decent. CNC cost sorta put me off even trying so a cast version seems appealing.
Contrary to popular opinion but I've tried some aftermarket GT tires and I don't like them. Ride horrible compared to my old stock treaded that's been worn in a little. It's just that damn side wall isn't big enough for me not to bang the rim when nudging or dropping 💀

@lia Because I don't ride a lot of trail, maybe 20%, and even then mostly smooth dirt/gravel, I'm not sure I'd want to go all the way to the 5 from the 6.5. That said, the price difference of the cast compared to the CNC is VERY appealing.
I do like the FM performance treaded on my GTS and the GOAT on my GT, both of which are available in 6", I believe, but I'm in the same boat with you in that what would push me to the 5" would be if I could get either of those tires for it. I had the enduro and it was "ok", but it wore out fast (for me anyway) and just didn't have the lateral gripiness that I've grown fond of with the treaded tires.
Give me one of those 2 or even a treaded Burris (which I think might be available in 5") and I may not be able to resist pulling the trigger for the cast 5 for my GTS! Living right by TFL, I might even be able to get them to install it for me. :)

So does that mean the straight magnets work in a GTS?? Cuz Jeff proclaims "Only for GT!" in the video... but thats one blue ass onewheel logo on the donor hub!
We need answers people!!
Also, i think 'more sidewall' provides a really unique opportunity for innovation. if u can hit a 4" deep pothole of concerning width at speed because of clever tire engineering, it would be a big deal! A new standard.

Yeah, pretty sure he means the GT platform in general, cuz they have the N52 magnets to pretty much match the GTS original hub.
Here's from the product page on TFL:
For GTS riders:
We recommend the N52 which is nearly identical to the stock GTS hub performance. The N48 or N42 will also work but you'll lose 5-10% torque with the benefit being an even higher top speed if that's what you're looking for.And . . . they're sold out! :D
