Bringing this old thread back as requested by @S-Leon
Haven't got any recent ones though because nothing with any sense is outside time of year... how 'bout something ancient. Okay not ancient but 2019 feels like a whole different time period especially since my board remained stock for nearly a year.

Snow Impressions -
@s-leon Looks like a birds wings or a frozen bird under the snow?
-
@lemur -- Just the imprint.

Go home tree, you're drunk
Remains of the storm that hit a few weeks ago. Stumbled across a downed tree that took a big chunk of dirt with it.
-
That one looks awfully wet, but do keep clear of those kinds of fallen trees. People have been known in Sweden to use those for shelter from the wind when having a cuppa in the woods. If the fallen tree snaps off, anything under the roots gets smooshed, often with a deadly outcome. ☠️ 🇸🇪 🌲

@angusofstockholm oh damn that’s a horrifying thought. Good call, I’ll keep my distance next time just in case.
That particular spot floods frequently so it’s likely the rest of them aren’t super stable either.
-
@angusofstockholm True about an uprooted tree: I cut a freshly downed, uprooted tree for firewood, hauled off a load, came back and had a hard time finding it again because with the weight off, the roots reseated themselves. In this case it was not an immediate snap back, but sometime in the interim hour the jaws closed.

No photo. Yesterday a pair of Canada geese waddled on the trail I ride with my Onewheel. As I got close, the stone heavy gander feinted attack, flying up at me -- beak open, tongue wagging -- nearly close enough to feel it. It took me by surprise even though I kind of expected it, and I-on-my-Onewheel wobbled.
Today, on the same stretch of trail near a mile long, extensive, but very shallow lake I came upon the same pair, so I slowed way down. Then, the attack gleam in the gander's eye widened -- and faded. Spurring my Onewheel, quickly and directly straight at him, I pushed acceleration -- yelling all the way like I was twice as big as I am. Both geese turned and ran, taking flight in a few steps, with I, the Avenger, right on their tails straight down a quarter mile of the trail. As soon as an uncluttered opening in the trees presented itself they veered left, over the water and landed -- safe! Except that I am a bit deaf, I could almost hear their sigh of relief.
Later, I saw the two still treading -- happily waterborne -- as I passed that way, Onewheeling on my way back.

@s-leon I encounter geese all the time along the Sacramento river paths. If they are in my way, I actually "honk" at them and they pretty much always waddle out of my way! Too bad we don't have video of you on the chase though!

Hay There -
I left the door open for a joke on the last pic I posted above but I guess no one caught it. 3HP is better than two.
-
@hanahsdax -- Good joke!!!

Great snake! Massasauga on the Greenway. Although I did not see rattles, the thick heavy body and triangular shaped head are characteristic. As they are rarely seen here I felt privileged to see this local snake in its two foot long glory.
The photo of it I got is blurry and has my BadgerSense display hiding the tail. Maybe I will edit this entry to add the photo in a couple weeks after Ruth Anne knows I am riding again.
-
@s-leon Eager to see what you managed to capture :)
Would offer to send you my old iPhone 6S+ but it's got a busted camera and dodgy charge port so wouldn't be of use :( -
Have you Herd? -
@hanahsdax Loving the stickerbombed rails :D

Not on a Onewheel, but not far up the road from here I saw my first road-killed mink -- unusual enough to mention, I think.
Ruth Anne reminded me that just a year ago we had a mama mink cross our back porch with a baby rabbit in her mouth.
-- I did take a photo today, but even though the position was natural and there was no blood showing, some people get squeamish about a close-up of a still body. --
And another aside: Just after seeing the mink today, a couple of motorcyclists passed -- one of whom had black cat ears on a full face helmet, just like Lia.

One of my spies out on a mission ;)

A green lizard in Louisiana -- apparently a common sight there. My daughter sent it to me in response to my massasauga snake photo which she emailed back to me so I could post it.
