That said... Look at Jeff with his coffee cup.
Yeah, then he spins around and rides backwards holding the phone and coffee cup talking into the camera! I met him when we had both just started riding. He was on his V1, I was on my plus. Obviously, he has progressed WAY more than I have as I can't even ride switch, lol. I'm using the excuse that I was 57 at the time!

We've got four minutes until gametime on the stream
I'm skipping lunch and thankfully my Thermodynamics class has been dropped today so I get to watch this.I will summarize what we get in the livestream
-
@loaffette holy crap it looks fast, no obvious pushback on it
-
@loaffette so it's called the Onewheel GT-S
(S Series)Apparently it was originally made for race for the rail

@lia damn, 113 volts. That's the highest voltage I've seen in any onewheel
I could lick that!
-
@loaffette It's pretty high. Molicel P45 were mentioned in the live video so I suspect it's all series cells and nothing parallel.
$3200 seems a bit steep though. Not sure how many will bite for that.
-
@lia onewheel.com is back up
GT is now 2,300
Pint X is now 1,500
Pint has not been changed -
i mean, i get where they are going -- they want to push the sport, and that's fine -- but meh, this clearly isn't for me. nothing about excites me. i'm not a trail rider, and i'm not a speed junkie. i'm glad they are improving them in general, though, and i hope this means they will release a comparable street machine next.
-
@franko Same. I'm all about range so this is the opposite of what I personally want but I can see the racers loving this.
Already discussing this with Fungineers about plans. It's gonna give us some new goals for sure in terms of DIY builds.
-
@loaffette just realized the voltage for the cells is going off of 4.2, not 3.7v
They may be fudging the numbers on this.
113/3.7=30
113/4.2=27 -

@loaffette Numbers check out.
GT is 18s
GT-s is likely 27sThey claim a 50% boost in voltage. If 27s is 150%, 27/1.5=18
-
So I did a quick and dirty mockup in a GT battery box and sure enough 21700 27s1p fits super comfortably BUT there is no shot there are any in parallel which checks out with the lighter weight.
-
Yay, now my XR is doubly out of date.
-
@lia yeah if they dropped the price of gt and made the gts $2500, id consider it. wondering what the pushback is like though. VESC's already go that fast with more features and less voltage. anyone here buy one yet?
-
@notsure Everyone I've spoken too can't justify it. I'm sure there are some though.
Personally I think it's a bit rough on the riders wanting to get into racing. It feels a little deliberately pay to play.
-
@lia ok here's a dumb question: if the cells in that battery are all in series, what happens if one fails? is it like string lights?
