IMG_1122.jpeg The snowstorm we had yesterday reminded me of riding in one last February. Actually, it was two years ago.

January 26, 2022 -- Northeast Ohio -- We have had over 30 inches of snowfall in a week and two days -- first 17 inches in one long squall, then an inch or several freshening every day or so. This photo is near our house, at about 300 feet of driveway away from the road. As of yet I have not been Onewheeling much this winter, since my hard concussion in December.

The Onewheel is resting nose down because of no battery weight in the back. The rubber bicycle tire pieces are freewheel brakes. The rails are carbon steel Ruckus Rails with aluminum traces where the Ignite Lift Kit formerly had been. The white rear footpad is a piece of plastic deck-like board. The white handle is a drawer pull.

@s-leon I love how every time I see your board it gets even more custom. Very MadMax vibes and it looks great. The suspension really adds to it too.

Happy to see you out riding albeit not as much. I can't imagine 30 inches of snow here. I've heard stories of massive snowstorms in the UK but I've personally never seen more than a few inches.

@HanahsDax How's the snow been around your side of the states? Gotten up to any wintery adventures?

@lia It’s been a mild winter here so far. We had a couple big storms early and then a lot of sunny, warm days. Here is a pic I took in early December on my commute to work after a storm overnight.

@hanahsdax Looks like a real nice ride to work. Do you rub all the snow off with a towel or something when you get in?

@lia Yeah in the winter I ride up to catch the Chondola which takes me right to the core where our office is located. I usually broom off any snow before bringing it in and wipe down the wheel with a rag and a paper towel.

We finally got some snow last night. Here’s how to turn a treaded into a slick.

@hanahsdax That's a cool look, does the snow getting packed into the tread cause traction issues or is it unnoticeable.

I've heard when the treads get water logged it can lead to aquaplaning so wondered if similar occurs with snow.

@lia I think in certain conditions the treads help but for the most part it’s really about throttle control in the snow. Those $9 snow chains look interesting but I don’t think I’ll go that route.

Moved the boards to the bedroom since the wall along the workshop isn't big enough anymore. Making that new stand to house them all (except the XS, I just wanted to put it alongside the others)

Need to go to Daventry in a few weeks for a doc appointment however I've never taken the route needed to get there. Don't want to set off unprepared and miss it or find a problem midway so today was a great day to check the route.

Timed the route and made an alteration on the return which mostly bypassed this shocking bit of pathway so I'll do that instead. While there I decided to take a spin round the local reservoir and nature reserve. Here's some pics from the trip :)

Put the proton torpedo in the ventilation shaft at the end. Amirite?

Got to Hawaii and this was waiting for me:

                                        20220307_161159.jpg

After some REAL pain trying to get the tire off, it turned into this!

                                        20220308_143946.jpg

Adding in some wildlife (gotta look hard!) . . .

                                        20220308_144246.jpg

Took it for a ride today. Besides almost being run over by a huge left turning pickup that I THOUGHT saw me, it was pretty nice. A bit more squirrely than the XR and push back somewhere just over 16 (gotta get used to that), but definitely a capable board. I've never felt pushback on my XR and can sometimes top out at 19 mph, but the Pint X pushback can definitely be felt. Overall though, this should keep me floating until I get home and unbox my GT that arrived this morning back home, LOL.

                                        GT-S > GT > Pint X > XR > +

Went for a ride around the new builds that are still being done. Gotta find the site planner and give them some bones for adding wide, smooth AF and carvy paths around it that are so buttery smooth.

Here's some pics I got while not obsessing over how nice these were to ride.
