What do people in your life think about your Onewheel(s)?

@s-leon i lost a bunch of weight, flattened out the bumpy parts of the lawn, met a bunch of my neighbors... it's a net positive. the learning curve, although shallow, is steeper than they'd prefer. old snowboarding friend was hooked day one tho.

People think im the village idiot. But i dont care what people think as most of em are envious fools that forgot they're alive. Even doubt if all have a soul to start with.

Same position here just the other side of the fence. GF tried it but didn't seem all that interested. Have my fingers crossed for you and hubby x
we'll see. at least he's not actively against it, right? he just kind of shrugs about it. granted, he only rode it as long as it took me to get comfortable on it, which was a period of a few weeks, just an hour or so on weekends. but it's been years now... since just before the pandemic, and he hasn't ridden since. my bummer is that i don't know anyone else who rides, so all my rides are in the neighborhood, just cruising around. : \
There is a new local riders group that started up in the past couple weeks, and they have had two rides to date -- and of course i've been too busy to be able to join them. also, they all seem to have GTs or XRs, and their rides are a lot longer than i can manage on my OG Pint right now, battery-wise. just getting to where the rides are would probably take a chunk out of my ride time with them, haha. maybe i just need to embrace being a solitary rider, or find an OG Pint group...!

@franko Wish we all lived close, could do a forum group ride so we all get to enjoy some company. Maybe something we all do in the near future :)
Really hope you and the husband get to enjoy some rides together. Maybe just the right setting and place is needed for it. If not maybe he'd enjoy another type of PEV to ride with you.

I've been a skibum for almost 40yrs so Mom's numb to it, while my wife Becki call's herself a onewheel widow ;-/
she does ride the ebike with me occasionally tho. -
@lia would be fun to do a frankenboard ride w/ all you kooks

actually, we have talked about this. Bird recently introduced their scooters to our area, and they are easily found all over our neighborhood. he's been wanting to try them, and i said i'd go along on my Pint if he's serious about it. We'll get to it eventually!

-
@notsure yeah, yeah. i know. my money's not there yet, and for most of what i do with my Pint, it's plenty as-is.

Hi @Franko -- Yes! Enjoy and embrace solitary Onewheeling -- and the new blacktop pavement in your neighborhood.
The few group rides I participated in had lowest-common-denominator Onewheelers acting stupid in show-off mode, taking risks -- some downright foolhardy -- and encouraging others, too.

oh no -- i hope that doesn't happen here. that sounds terrible, but kids will be kids, i guess. i want to support this new local group and attend their rides, but it's August and there's this little thing in the desert near me called Burning Man, and i'm super busy getting ready...

event coordination is a handful! good skill set tho.

I come from labour working class where not much of wealth is inherited and plenty of alike slowly diminish their few existing goals and blurry their dreams with other habits. So... close people and some of not-so-close but yet seen me growing within past 20-30yrs are like: What? .. okay .. at least he's not drinking, smoking and burning life.
My hyper-active local sports legend 77y mother is rather cool about it - she knows I've always been into "unordinary" tech stuff.
I got tons of colleagues and .. idk how .. I've not necessarily tried to keep it as a secret nor avoid contacts while on OW, but somehow I've managed to hold a low profile about it. Some few know by randomly bumping into (and were astounded, obviously) but the real blabbermouths likely have no idea. The thrill would be real at some. As commuting to work on 4-wheels is my occupational unavoidable routine, I'm liking this unawareness till it lasts. But this is only my second season on XR.
Out of all forum members here I might(?) be at the easternmost point [The Baltics]. Don't know. But you guys can imagine - there's no way you could go for ~1h ride here without feeling inquiring looks or hearing comments at any age group. Probably we have less onewheels than any state of US. Registrated, organized grouprides are not happening around here. :)
