@lia Well, that's fun
Can't say I'm too surprised though
-
@lia i was wondering if we might see a bump of new people here as a result, too. what's interesting to me so far today is noticing how much i read at reddit -- i keep reflexively clicking on a link that would take me there and realizing, "oh, NOPE!"

Omg same. Reddit has basically replaced Google for getting any sensible answer to a question for me so it's been hell searching for things today. SEO has practically tainted Google's results to the point I've actually checked page 2 a few times lol.
I have 3 bookmarks lined up that I actively open without thinking. Here, r/onewheel and Twitter. Finding that second one not load yesterday and today catches me off guard.

... Is a sentence I've never heard before.

it's true -- if you search using reddit as a parameter of your search, you're more likely to get actual info from other humans instead of some optimized search algorithm's answer -- at least, that's what i've heard...

r/Onewheel is back but only kinda. u/IntelliDev has brought it back online but in a read only sort of way so if you need to find something it's back but you can't post or comment on anything for now at least.
In order to still allow existing reddit users to still communicate and participate as a community the Discord group they also run has been linked so that the boycott can continue without completely sinking the community.
It looks like since the big bad at reddit has decided not to even budge on the issue a lot of subs are now participating in an indefinite protest.
-
@lia i've been seeing mention of continuing the boycott, too. my RSS feeds have been significantly quieter as a result. it's been interesting to realize just how much i relied on reddit for various things! that being said, i'm supporting the boycott and want it to continue as long as it takes to make Spez realize what he's doing to the communities and the company. ✊

Looks like we'll be entering the 3rd week of almost a site wide blackout of most reddits that hold any value (minus the ones that have been forced back open).
NGL I don't see the main OW sub re-opening unless things change. Genuinely a lot of respect to them for keeping it offline.
I've got like 0 comms with the mods so I can't say for certain if this is the case but frankly since the CEO hasn't taken a heaping slice of humble pie I don't see anyone that has any credibility wanting anything to do with the platform anymore.
-
@lia I noticed that some reddit communities have come back online. I heard that reddit did something shady, but idk
TBH, I haven't been following the thing.

Looks like the OW sub reddit is back . . . maybe been a day or two so far, let's see how long it stays up.
