Lachlan Hurst's Belt Driven Onewheel
-
Lachlan Hurst has shared the details about a belt driven Onewheel project he's been working on and frankly it looks amazing.
Personally I really like the look of the board. Hopefully he continues on with the project and refines it further. I don't think it could ever be on par with a Onewheel due to how much space for hardware is lost by having the motor in the body. However a project like this doesn't need to be as good, it wins purely on style.

Use two smaller motors on either side?

@lia That looks amazing!
Though I'd take my onewheel over the belt drive. Don't get me wrong, belt drives can last a while but it could easily get torn or pulled off and that would mean an hour or two putting it back on.
Though, this really is impressive to me! I think this is one of those projects where utility wasn't the idea, but mainly to say "I did it"

This is what random people expect to see when you say "the thing self-balances itself and you on top of it".

Always love the innovation despite the looks. That wheel offset due to belt though...
