Finally time to make videos again!

Yes... Cancel the GT. :D Although, I really do kind of want to see you, or someone try and ride the XS.
How the narrative of issues still plaguing it is a bit disturbing. It really makes me question the possible successors, and voltage increase may go.
Like what will happen when FM tries going from th e 75V to 100V or more like with what we're seeing in the EUC market. Granted, FM could step up incrementally, but I think there's going to be a performance aspect being chased too in time; where maybe a handful of volts won't be enough.
Kingsong went from 84V to 126V in the S22, and it resulted in a battery fire from poor design and implementation of safety measures. It could be said that they didn't have the experience for higher voltage wheels. Whereas Gotway who was well known for their own battery fire issues with certain battery packs has for the most part shaken that stigma with the transition to Begode, but has also incrementally increased voltages without significant resulting battery fires.
The OW's board form factor/sizing will have to likely suffer as a result of chasing higher voltages though. Unless there's new cell technology/chemistry introduced that's effective at a reasonable price.

@samuraipunch It's been really hard not to try mounting it yet. I actually had a dream I got on it by mistake and bent the poor thing. That said I'm sure it should hold since I load tested the old rails and it sustained me bouncing on them over a thin point of contact. Just to be safe I might swap the central axle out with some steel rod rather than the aluminium one I've been using since it was easier to cut.
100v OW would be nuts. If it wasn't for the lack of accessible hardware I'd love to have my first real VESC be something "balls to the wall" like that.
Have they said what was behind those fires? Assuming it was the voltage increase maybe they didn't have large enough gaps on the traces that allowed the HV rails to arc to places it shouldn't.
-
@lia Yea, if I was going to do a VESC personally I'd do something stupid like that "just because I can"... It's not my fault the LilFocer3'll support 100V :D
With the S20 fire it was something about the firmware not failing over to kill the power or something, in a "unique" circumstance when there was too much voltage regen, or something. And since the software control/switch failed and didn't act fast enough it allowed the physical measures to be bypassed. Something along those lines i think. KS released a FW update to address that, although I don't believe there where other changes mentioned, so it's a bit sketchy to me, if that's a real fix.
Gotway had questionable pack design/qc combined with sourcing underrated batteries is my understanding. Then used that pack across a generation of wheels. They changed their pack design, improved QC, stopped using those cells, and it seems to have addressed the issues. As they're primarily selling 84/100V wheels as their mainstay.

@samuraipunch Some real "I paid for the whole speedometer" energy right there and I'm here for it ;)
Ah that'll do it. Some real edge case sort of scenario to trigger it no doubt although totally unacceptable. Good to know it's being addressed though.

@lia Amazing edit, great song selection, incredibly inspiring. FM really needs to make you an European Ambassador.
-
@hanahsdax Thank you <3 That song came into my recommended a while back and I knew I needed to use it. One of many however waiting for the right passion to make something with. Got a playlist waiting for me to check some off.
FM Ambassador would be an honour. That said with your commitment to the sport I'm surprised you've not been reached out to get on their stories page. I bet you've collectively ridden more days than most people have miles on their boards ;)
-
@lia As I said when you sent me the first time, the best video so far Lia, congrats.
-
@ed_co Thanks again <3

@lia brilliant!

@b0ardski :D

Gotta love those frog perspective slo-mo's with pebbles 'n dirt thrown up!
-
@sirgu some of my fave too, got one like it in the “Long floaty clouds” vid and wanted more.
Realised the GoPro could do 1080p/240fps so did those with it. First few came out bad as the default slomo preset has the bitrate low for some reason. Ended up redoing a bunch but glad I did as they looked more like 480p at the low preset D:
Hoping to improve some of the shots I get on newer stuff. The GoPro has a pretty bad dynamic range so if there is a huge variance in light like in my flat it gets either blown out or underexposed... which in my case was both. I'm cheap though and cameras are real pricey so looking at a second hand Panasonic Lumix G7 currently. 4k/30 and apparently is good in low light :)
