Reflashing a Ow bms
-
I found a way to reflash a Pint Bms to a XR 4208 Bms: I used a Pint Bms that had a corrupted firmware and water damage I that I repaired.
I fallowed directions on a github and used a Picit 3 programmer to pull the firmware off my Xr 4208 bms and load the hex file into the Pint bms, no trouble code come on, but I have to test on the road. I think that's how some vendors are reflashing bms's to 4209, but with an improved code to read correct battery voltage.
Works without an Owie chip on 4209 and prior Xr or post 4209 with an Owie chip. -

@lemur https://github.com/radimklaska/onewheel/blob/master/bms-firmware.md
All public knowledge, the video doesn't show how to flash but no brainer, as the erase and program buttons are there. -
@lemur Nice~ :) @radimklaska actually registered recently so I'm sure he'd be thrilled to see this.
-
@lia His code is modified and not just a clone.
-
@lemur that's very interesting!
I am wondering why is not possible to dump/flash the firmware in the controller too and not just the BMS. -

@ed_co I would love to do that , maybe the chip is protected, I heard about an internal "fuse" that blows after the firmware is flashed? I'm not sure, just rumors.
I would love to dump the firmware from a Pint X and flash it on a plain Pint. -
@lemur pintx to pint sounds amazing.
Fuse? Seriously, this sounds like a hoax...
Have you tried?? -
@ed_co I think it's a hoax too, but plausible.
I don't know how to pull that firmware. I have to do more studying if it's even possible. -
@lemur I remember to update the firmware of my XR via OTA, so it doesn't make any sense to me.
Having the hardware, have you tried to dump it in a similar way of the BMS?
