BadgerSense and other aftermarket discussion
-
@s-leon I had to look this up, had no idea this was a thing but it's pretty clever.
(Linky for anyone curious)I like it, probably wouldn't use it as I stay at 15mph but regardless I'm curious to see how this works in the wild. I don't see any mention of an alarm to alert the rider other than looking at the HUD which I feel is a missed opportunity.
-
@s-leon why not? i think the hud might accent the whole dystopic future vibe. very borg.
-
@s-leon Thank you so much for putting this out!
Haven't been on badgerwheel site for ages .. had no idea such thing now exists which of I've dreamed about a while ago. Just that, price .. is ... ouch!
(I've had more $$$ aftermarket purchases than $$ purchases lately ... I really should follow this one first for damn a while.) -
...
(Also IMO this should be labeled as dedicated discussion topic about BadgerSense.)Guys show some of that in this fresh vid.

@s-leon C&R airpad is good stuff!
their fairly overpriced fender bag is also nice to have if ur always packing ur pockets with the same accoutrements. it's a thule for ur onewheel.
if ur into fangs, v3 fang bumper is really well made.
-
@notsure I've got the landsurf contour fender, TOUGH and sleek I love its shape better than any other, same profile as the pint fender.
-
@notsure -- Why not BadgerSense? -- Well, cost is one factor. Another is installation, Positaps to the appropriate wires, fitting and routing. Then, will it just confirm what the board is already telling me? And/or will it give me a more elusive red limit to push? Hmmm...
-
Positaps seem to be there for FM warranty friendly purposes. Personally I'd go for more fixed wire connection solutions straight away.

I do not have a position on this matter. As I'm not pushing the limits.
I got carried away of idea its all a sort of "hands free" solution and smth that's not dependent on phone app.
[Sry, I'm not native on english. Trying hard to convey what I mean, lol.]
BadgerSense = 3in1 standalone
Meaning... speed + battery level + power usage/reserve is all right there if ever you give a glance. The same easy as taking a look on smartwatch. The times when watches jet had standalone apps for OW. -

I second! The reason why Contour got included into my first list of accessories.

Strangely enough my v3's is still in box. Because v2.1 wheel diameter gives more stand off. And maybe I'm coward. :P
Change form v2.0 (the minis) onto v3 is not that vast. -

ur doing fine. @Lia spells "color" with a "u" and "tire" with a "y" n we still understand her.
"aluminium"? why not just add more syllables? maybe some silent letters too? "ahlumignyum"... smh.
-
@NotSure Oi!
Tbf I'll grant you the "U" is dumb and I'd like if we just dropped it. Also I've started spelling tire properly (because who TF thought a Y was sensible). However... Aluminium is staying!@Sirgu said :

You and me both, although I don't have the courage to even put fangs up front as I know even if they do their job I'll over-react and fall off anyway.

Mainly because I'm still not sure if I want to modify my new-used XR with a VnR, I'm trying to make a carve power-style charger with one of those green solar power converter box thingies. We'll see how that goes.
Question though: Is it really THIS EASY to VnR an XR? (If you don't mind riding without the app) I mean, that's redonkulous that you don't even have to take stuff apart besides that little plastic hatch!
-
@angusofstockholm -- Yes, it is that easy to VnR; I have done it to two V1s and two Pluses. And then I have ridden with the green booster feeding in while riding, too -- it works fine, although downhill regen added to the booster amperage can cause overcurrent shutdown even miles into the ride, so be careful.
-
@s-leon Wow! That's a crazy price for the BadgerSense. I'm not a software guy, but maybe someone here can make a power/speed sensor that activates a vibrator like a cell phone vibrator that warns when the board is approaching it's limit.
A vibrator in a cell phone is a small motor with a offset weight but a little bit bigger for a Onewheel.
No visual, just all feeling. -
@s-leon Ok. I VnR'd my Pint and it was great until eventually some water got to my BMS. That Pint mod involved disassembling and drilling and ugh! Now I recently badgered my XR, but it doesn't seem like I'd need to break the seal on anything. Bonus!
I have a raft of 60v batteries, so if it's really just tap-n-go, I'm really tempted. :)

i emailed the gt40 mod guys n asked them to provide their pint vnr wiring harness as a standalone product. it looks like a slick little piece of hardware.

yup it's confirmed! they're working on it as we speak! pretty cool.

Here is a link to a BadgerSense YouTube video and a description of the product as posted by Matt Donatello yesterday:
Got some real-world footage of the BadgerSense from BadgerWheel in action today! Here's a quick rundown of what everything means:
BLUE: Battery gage, using less than 80 of available motor power
GREEN: Using 80 or greater of available motor power
RED: How much of the last 20 is being used
If the RED fills up completely, nosedive is imminent.
The single white LED is my speed. The black mark on my rail is 20MPH. -
Oh sh!t. For a ~week now, (I guess) not a single day have passed without thinking 'n sniffing about BadgerSense for a minute, at least.
@s-leon you will not leave me an exception today either. X]-Great video footage! Shame there was not any steep hill climb throughout his 17 minutes - would have loved to see more urgent green-to-red ratio change with slower speeds.
