A mini birthday present.

If you're on reddit you may have seen @cheppy44 share a little present I made for his birthday. It came late because it took a bit more work than I planned but if you haven't seen it here it is ^-^
It's our boards but at 1/8 scale. Here's a few pics of them being made if anyone is interested :)
Originally I was going to make it a static model where plugging the charge port covers in would turn on some lights in the board but after fiddling with the 1st prototype on my desk I realised these are way more enjoyable used like a tech deck.
The wooden heart base is made from plywood that I used to build my first ever desk. Was my first "big" diy project so the material means a lot to me. As such I took a chunk out to use for this.
Prototyping takes ages and these are no exception. Each version I was finding reasons to do it another way like the print orientation for the frame or where the supports would go. But eventually I was getting something nice.
The mini enduro came out amazing however because of the print orientation it didn't come out round and instead more like an egg so it didn't roll too nicely. That said the quality is something else.
Finy flight fins and fenders were up next. I oversized the slots so they came out cleaner and may have gotten excited how cute they were compared to the real thing.
Painting wasn't fun, my acrylic paints don't go down evenly so I opted for spray paint and a lot of tiny strips of blue painters tape. Of course some fine sandpaper works great as griptape at this scale.
I'm assembling an army of little Onewheels.
Recognise this? It's the flight fin extender on Slushy with the flight fin itself. Very adorable.
Don't mind the weird discolouration on the rails. The glue dries clear.
This orange paint was kinda bad, it doesn't go down nicely and is super low viscosity so getting even coats was a nightmare. Eventually I got there though.
Attention to detail is my middle name apparently because I decided to model things that really didn't need modelling.
Nearing the end. I made some PLA busing that look like bearings because resin rubbing on resin would deteriorate the quality of the feel from rolling these. One of the many things tested before.
Of course I couldn't just ship these as is so I made them tiny little boxes. I recently bought an actual 2D printer so I've been putting it to work lol.
And there it is, the birthday present ^-^

@lia these are amazing! they look a lot like the little Pint ones they sent out to all the early Pint adopters while we waited months (and months) for our Pints to arrive. well done!
-
@franko Thankies <3
That's what I thought too, those were cute too. I remember that waiting period. It nearly felt like it wasn't going to happen. -
Amazing work, such a cool gift.
Well done indeed 👍👍👍 -
@lia i never lost hope, but the wait was excruciating. honestly these look much, MUCH better than the mini Pints. the detail is incredible.
i always wondered if they took the time to match the mini Pints to our orders, because i bought the sage one, and my mini Pint is also a sage green.

@lia said in A mini birthday present.:
Did they actually match the models to the ones ordered? That would have been nice if they did :)
i don't know -- i have never run into anyone else who has one! Maybe someone here does?

ITS SO COOL! <3

Everything about these are so amazing. I love the mini enduro, the flights fins and the sticker on your fender too but my favorite feature was definitely the little boxes.
-
@lia Wow, well done. Yet again, your attention to detail and precision are inspiring.

@cheppy44 Only for the coolest bf <3
@HanahsDax Thank you ^-^ The boxes were a must, my only regret is not adding more silly in jokes to the other sides. They are re-usable though. Printed shell and foam packing :)
@biell I can't help myself. The smaller the detail the more fun it is to look at. Pictures never do these justice.
