It was heck getting the motor plate cover (and I'm going to end up with two), but the GTR is complete.

GTR with a SLS/TechRails motor cover, 6" Enduro, Life Savers, Grizzly's, modified Foamies with CNR grip tape, and another attempt at adhering UHMW to HDPE being almost successful. The picture is taken in front of another project from earlier this year, to find a purpose for my old Burris treaded tires.

@biell Ouch! By the looks those tires got potential for so many miles more. 8O
You must be perfectionist or either getting loads of punctures from your rides.

@sirgu The only tire I have ever worn down all the way was my original Vega when I was mostly street. I change tires when they start getting close to loosing 1PSI/day, which is usually somewhere between 1K and1.5K miles. So, not a perfectionist, just lazy. They don't get punctures, it is usually leaking out the sidewall and I have never gotten Slime/Stay-a-float/etc. to fill sidewall cracks.

I also go through bearings fast, so I think it is just how and where I ride.

@lemur That is cool, I am glad everyone has access to such a solution. Luckily for us, a very nice person made one for us already.

i love that stuff! by the time u see it, its gone... it's POW n ur off, frenzy, frenzy, frenzy, till the music stops, n then everyone clamors for an open chair lol.

i agree with u that new tires will eat into hub conversions. but according to chris richardson, the gt hub is also substantially heavier. as he said "why?"

seems like the real demand is for a new hub that accepts either xr or gt stators. one that weighs less n sinks heat better. i have no idea if that's cost-effective, but it is where the market appears to be in my meager opinion.

                      XR's got what plants crave!

@notsure The only thing that comes readily to mind to justify more mass in the GT hub is for "heat". More mass, can absorb more heat... Although it doesn't do anything to disperse it. Maybe FM thought that people would only ride for long enough to where the hub could absorb it, and then take long enough breaks for it to disperse...

discovered the initial hub design was too weak to accept that stiff ass tire without significant QA issues, n so they increased its thickness to accommodate that design flaw because they had already signed off on everything else?
