The only og parts are the batt box and BMS from my 1st xr that started throwing error 21, (charger still plugged in when it's not); used 3k mi 4209 controller, stretched rails from ebay, new pads and bumpers, landsurf fender, witz hub and tire w/1600 mi., 200 mi on new stock battery, and rasta foam pads w/fishbones under the rug coming after a good test ride. 1000$ worth of parts not including bms.
Any of you tinkerers know were to start look to fix error 21 issues on my old 4209 controller?

@b0ardski Happy to see another board brought back to life, nice work and I like the look :D

One suggestion I've heard for E21 is disconnecting the Front/Rear LEDS. Not sure how it occurs but since they're running off Batt+/- it isn't too far fetched to be a possible point of failure.

that would make sense, it started after a pretty wet ride sesh, but no sign of water infiltration in the control box.

@b0ardski I know the blue was part of the OW theme, but I think the bare metal rails should've been standard on the older gens! SWEET

not usually a fan of the "industrial" aesthetic but the raw metal look is growing on me; like it on the wheel much better than some kitchen and baths I've worked on!!

Got a few miles on it now, so far I'm liking the longer rails, seems like a little extra room for my feet even though it's only a 1/4in. there's a wee bit less clearance doing toe dipping pivot turns so I'm liking the custom shaping for elevating the nose.
thought about some clear railgaurds but shiny plastic will detract from the raw metal looks. I'll probably black out the wood when I put the black foam grips on, I am missing the locked in cushyness of concave foam foot pads.

the new footpads 4th layer of plastic is making the fishbones under the foam grip very finicky to engage. anybody here had a go at peeling the extra layer off?

@b0ardski That board is straight 🔥🔥🔥!
Haven't tried taking a layer off a sensor sadly. Anyone else know?

@lia thanks. I think I nailed the aesthetics on this build, (need a little more red tape for the fender), was going to black out the pads but the wood trim gives it a more DIY feel.

@b0ardski I have taken the 4th layer off, it was pretty easy, you just need to make sure you can count all 4 layers before you start to ensure you are only pulling up one. I used a heat gun and made sure everything was really warm for both the grip tape and 4th layer removal.

I bought a fresh footpad set on the black friday sale last year. I removed the grip and 4th layer, then I took a strip of Scotch double sided adhesive and laid one strip over each sensor perpendicular to my foot position. Then, I applied ElectricBigfoot Hoverpads over that and CNR grip on top of that. Finally, I coated the exposed foam and any outside access to the sensor with black silicone adhesive to protect everything. It ended coming out really nice!

I have not had a single engagement or ghosting issue with that setup. It looks like I am going to have to touch up the silicone adhesive about once every 6 months (just finished my first touch up last week).

                          Edit: Oops, scotch not 3m

@biell I like the idea of extra strip under your preferred foot position. That may not work with the fishbones, which were working on the og pads reliably. I'd put the old 1 back on but its beat up after 2800mi. over 3years

@b0ardski I used Outdoor window insulator tape, it is really thin. It probably does nothing. But, I figured to err on the side of caution was the better choice.  Normally I have no problem with the Hoverpads, but during the winter, my Plus has trouble before it warms up. My hope was that this tiny bit of extra material would make that less likely. If it works at all, I would think it would at least work the same with fishbones.
