I met an interesting person

I went for a nice ride on the south seawall to buy the best fish 'n' chips from Go Fish in Vancouver. I'm pretty sure Britain has way better fish 'n' chips though.
I stopped along the seawall on a bench to eat my meal, so good!
A man with a little girl( his daughter) stopped and asked me about my suspension onewheel, seems like he knew a lot about onewheels.
He finally introduced himself as Ondy Ma, the founder of Surfwheel, he was quite interested in my board. I went on to tell him the original "wood" Surfwheel that was the first onewheel I ever vesc'd with a Trampa 6 .
Funny you never know who you meet. -
@lemur awesome!
-
Wow .. Hong Kong & Canada .. what a coincidence.
You two were destined to meet and well deserved it! -

Can't beat British chish and fips 😤 But that does look really nice.
That's super cool that you both met. Can't say I wouldn't be able to resist asking about a board with suspension that cool and clean.
Is Ondy Ma up to anything these days in the PEV world?
-
@lia He did mention something about a new product, but he didn't elaborate.
*** I just did some searching and found a Surfwheel patent for a board that has suspension*** -
@lemur woah looks pretty futuristic
-
@lemur Wow that thing looks wild!
I'd be interested to see one of these roaming around if they ever get released.
-
@lia I checked the Surfwheel website and it was supposed to launch this year.
I checked the patent and looks like two spring "shocks" used in low end bicycles.

@lemur I used something similar when planning to build suspension into the DIY Speedboard years back.
Looking through the patent the motor assembly caught my eye
A motor actually mounted within the hub rather than being built in 🤔 -
@lia Probably the ability to change out the tire rubber, in our conversation, he seems to like solid rubber tires.
It could be for low maintenance and for the masses. -
@lemur That's not a bad idea. could make some fancy aftermarket ones with the mesh patterns in the middle to give some squish.
It goes together like my little XS does come to think of it lol.
