PlatySense

Wish me luck on this one lol. I've been playing with it for half the day, 2 charges, and so far so good. It's one of those mods you notice immediately. I mean, I don't even notice new tires as quickly as I noticed this thing under my foot. It was very apparent the moment I made my first foot adjustment 1.5 seconds after first engagement lol.
I bought the rear Platypus well over a year ago and rocked it up until a few months ago when I wanted to try the Kush Wide. I kept the Kush on because the concavity reminded me of a skateboard, which is my background. With the new front, I decided to regrip and reinstall the rear Platypus today.
So far my only complaint is the rear love hump has seemed to bring back the initial foot fatigue most of us experience. I've been sick the past few days and haven't been riding so I'll give it a couple more charges to see if maybe it'll go away. An unwanted surprise I can't feel at all on the front pad even though the love hump is also present.
For those that don't know, the PlatySense is a single zone sensor. Heel lift is done by swiveling your toes to the front of the pad and pulling up your heel. It's not much of a change but sometimes catch myself still not rotating. When it disengages, it's very smooth and silent. The motor doesn't click off like with the stock sensors.
With all that said, I'm being very careful with it as I don't trust it yet. Being sure to point the board in a safe direction when jumping off and not putting myself in any racing conditions that might force myself off. I'm also jumping off and changing foot positions like crazy just to test it out. I will update with any changes but so far it's a welcome addition!

Ok, that rear footpad had to come off. No idea how I was riding it before but we're not getting along now. Re-gripped and reinstalled the Kush. Doesn't look too out of place and feels worlds better. Sensor still working predictably and feels great, will report back with any changes.

Your post/comments about the platysense... Make it seem even more dubious of a product once you wash away the landsurf hype. Early versions of it had the sensor go to the edges. From what you're describing it's as if they made the sensor area smaller. Likely as a result of the sensor sticking on, similar to the GT foot pads.
So, I'm still the only person with a full-size foot pad sensor with front concave... With the exception of the handful I've built/sold, and the others that have built their own similar transplant deck.

@samuraipunch I'll take photos when I change the tape but so far the sensor seems substantial enough. I can see how very close it is to the edges of the tape and can even engage it with my foot in front of the two front screws. The heel lift is done with my foot on the front edge, completely off the grip tape.
With that said, I'm aware of their early problems and do have trust issues lol. Initially I planned to put the effort into my own design but for now it made sense to try this one out. If it does fail or become unreliable, I likely won't be putting it back on and go with the original plan.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying smoother and instant engagement/disengagement and obviously the concavity and extra control.

Back to report I have removed the PlatySense. It dumped me twice early this evening so I opened the app and watched the sensor animation. Moving my foot around caused the shoe to disappear from the screen, meaning, no foot pressure was being detected under my normal use. I'm lead to believe some portion of the sensor is stuck open. Zero ghosting or other issues up to this point.
Reinstalled and re-gripped the stock sensor and honestly, I don't miss the front concave. Thought it was going to be a bummer going back to flat but surprisingly it's a negligible difference. Planned on making a project out of a spare stock sensor I have but likely won't happen anytime soon because of this.
I do plan to reach out to Land Surf just so they know but won't be seeking warranty. A product like this only gets one chance with me. I think two sensors is better suited to my style.

@blkdout Sorry to hear it dumped you :(
Hope it didn't result in an injury! -
Which version of it did you have? I'm possibly looking at 4.0 if changing the tape on my standard pad doesn't fix the occasional ghosting issue.

@theadman Version 3.1 - Funny you ask, I've been thinking about going after a replacement since I heard about the new ones. I actually never reached out to LandSurf about it. But also, I have no motivation because I actually do prefer two sensors. Time will tell, my mind changes like the wind lol.

@blkdout I'm just praying the new tape solves my problems.
