The floatwheel.

@theadman Are there spring loaded pins on the bboard that contact the 3 trips on the footpad?
-
@lemur I don't actually know, I will be taking bits apart at some point to check waterproofing so I'll look.
-
@lemur Loaffette shared some pics in this thread. It looks like they're spring loaded.

Rail guard covers. Still a PITA to remove on the FW. I put this rail in the over at 80 degrees C and most of the glue comes off easily. Most of it.
Super special custom rattle can paint job in progress.
The top rail is unpainted and the bottom is painted awaiting lacquer. No, I didn't miss a bit. ;) -
@theadman Looks good ☺️
Guess it’s a decent sign the old ones were hard to remove since it’d look pretty naff if they fell off. -
@lia it's the glue residue that's the big PITA, especially after I'd missed a bit and had to sand down and repaint.
The covers are very thin real carbon fibre, very sharp in places. -
@theadman would isopropyl alcohol help remove it?
-
@lia probably, but I rolled most of it off with my thumb then got rid of the rest with white spirit. The rails are pretty much finished now, maybe one more coat of lacquer.
-
Nearly there now. The rails are green/purple flip paint which is very difficult to show in a photo, and the fluoro orange was meant to be red but that's how it came out. 🤷

I have a new tyre/tire! It's a 6.5" Hoosier treaded, very similar to a T2. The floatwheel is now much carvier and is bound to have more off road grip. It was an absolute nightmare to fit, after several attempts (thanks again Lia for the help) I managed to get one side to bead at 90psi but the other side just wouldn't. I eventually took it to a fitter and it seated after many blasts of 140psi.

I lowered the board one notch because I wanted to try it. It feels so good, so stable. The fender doesn't fit now but I don't think I can go back. 😭
