Halloween 2022

I know it's still September...
BUT
...Hoping to nudge enough of you all to think about maybe doing something for objectively the best day in the year. Nothing worse than thinking about doing something and not having the time to prepare so here's your reminder.

So with that out of the way; who's planning to do something fancy this year for Halloween?

Already started mine (ofc) but curious what everyone else is doing or maybe we can all help those unsure what to do :)

My absolute favorite holiday. My house is already draped in decorations. I always watch a bunch of scary movies and buy a bunch of pumpkins, carve a few then after halloween, smash them all lol.

Last year I cut some decals for my orange bike, now called "The Pumpkin Bike". I'll have to think of something for the Onewheel now.

@lia Ha! My birthday is the end of this month and I couldn't care less lol. Definitely don't celebrate it like I do Halloween. My favorite bit? Gosh, I don't know... It's a whole experience with the weather changing, the scenery of Autumn and of course the scary stuff, campfires and candy! What's yours? I'm excited to find another and have this conversation! Doesn't seem like many of us are out there lol.

@blkdout The weather change is bittersweet for me since it marks the start of some brutally terrible weather here in the UK. Grey skys, rain and cold D: That said the transition is usually nice to see.

Personally I love dressing up and going around being bizarre without it being "weird". Possibly one of the few times in the year I don't stand out as much lol. Last year I dressed up as a pirate and the board was my ship :) Documented a little on the old forum of making it. This year going for something different but still dressing up the board :D

Doesn't seem like many of us are out there lol.

IKR, I don't want to knock the other holidays too much but they're all kinda consumerist and empty if you don't have a cool family to enjoy them with. Halloween you make cool pumpkins, dress up and pester strangers for sugar. Then when you grow up you can do all that still but go to a club too (todo list item for sure).

Wow! I'll never be as cool as Lia on a pirate ship lol. Love the cannons and Jolly Roger rail details. So cool. I was only thinking of putting a spider graphic or something on the rails lol. I watched the video and people's reactions are great.

I used to love dressing up but getting older I leaned into the decorative, pumpkin smashing, horror side of things. For whatever reason I really embrace being scared at movies or spooking myself out in the woods at night. Really fun to do spooky stuff with family too. I do have one of those blow up dinosaur costumes though I'll have to dig out!

...And I agree with the consumerism and bittersweetness of the upcoming Holidays after Halloween. I mean, there are already Christmas decorations for sale in stores. No one is really selling anything on Halloween except the experience.

@blkdout Thank you~<3 I’m sure you could pull something off if you wanted :) Personally I’d love to be as good (and pretty) as Jessica Nigri with all her amazing creative cosplay stuff (Kinda nsfw stuff so careful googling). Hoping this year to really go all out making something.

That does sound just as fun. I’d be down to do something creepy, get lost in the woods. Just… maybe not tempt fate and bring a camcorder to document me getting lost ;)

I will proceed with caution lol. I do appreciate a good cosplay though even if nsfw. The art can speak volumes above sex appeal. I've always been a fan of the pirate theme and think you pulled off both art and sexy in a very classy way.

Is that a Blair Witch reference? lol Great film if you're in the mood. I would also recommend "VHS" for found footage movies. Really cool concepts and spinoffs... and it doesn't take place in the woods haha.

it struggles. really gotta cinch it tight to minimize loss, but i used a lipo usb power bank instead of the AA-powered one provided. big hit! fun too cuz u can kinda whack ppl with the tail if u want.

You got it :D Watched it when I was little. Got the old Rustin Parr game for PC too. That game has nightmare fuel cutscenes, one in particular terrifies me even today.

This year, assuming things go to plan is I'll be a Witch~
Unoriginal maybe so I'm hoping to be that much extra it makes up for it ;)

Costume is mostly sorted although I'm still figuring out my shoes and need to make the hat (since all the ones online are kinda lame).

For now have a crude sketch of Slushy's proposed costume will be :3

Cauldron will be difficult since I don't want to bother taking off the flightfins. Will need to accommodate those somehow or hide them.

My other dilemma is ofc I want to make another video however finding a song that is:
a. Spooky,
b. Fits a Onewheel video,
c. Isn't brutally hardcore and offputting
-has become a challenge.

Struggle with that last one since my music tastes are terrible simply unmatched in how amazing they are.

@lia I was never into scary games until recently. My friend gave me a copy of The Last Of Us and after finishing it, immediately bought the sequel and haven't been able to put them down since. Takes place 20 years after a fungus-spore zombie infection and highlights the struggles of living in that world. So good in fact, HBO is making a tv series out of it.

Love the Witch idea! I was a witch once when I was like 5. Yes, I'm a boy. Yes, there are pictures lol. Sadly, my music taste is often hardcore and off-putting. The Used has a decent spooky song called Wake The Dead but it won't fit the witch theme and is likely too hard for some but worth a listen. Good thing you're getting started early at least!

Had a listen, that's not bad but yeah probably wouldn't fit. Give me an opportunity to use "Marilyn Manson - Disposable Teens" and I'll take it. But... to try keep things tame I'm avoiding that xD

I think I've got one but will need to get some footage first and test it on the TL to see how it fits. I've had at least 3 videos change track mid edit because I realised it just wasn't working.

@Lia I imagine you making another channel just for the hard stuff now lol. Manson is great, I remember when that song came out I had it on repeat. Their first album came out swinging too.

Seriously though, I understand and appreciate the work you put in. It's hard to appeal to the masses. I haven't seen all your stuff yet but you absolutely nailed the Paramore video. Great work indeed, definitely not easy.
