Vesc specific batteries

@notsure For me the choice is pretty obvious since i dont have a pint and need a "longboard" type anyway;)

On this setup i have a charge-only bms.
Gotcha, that is the most important part. Cell-level low voltage cuttoff is also important, but if you can stop charging when the pack is full and keep the pack balanced, then you deal with the risks on the lower end.

@notsure Sorry;)
So my ride:
34km paved and pretty hard trails. Avg 35kph cruise on pave.
Speeds: Pushback set @80% (of available capacity). The lower the battery gets, the earlier pushback comes. At the top-end of the pack i hit 45kph, before pushback. I eased down and continued most of paved part between 35 and 40kph. Started hitting pushback after using over 65% of the battery. At nearly empty pack still confidently hitting 34kph, sometimes pushback kicked in on accellerating carves. Could have upped the limit to 85% but i did not feel like getting off the board.Torque. Crazy. Never felt like even close to nosedive. Imagine going up a dirt hill with XR where it will slow down, bury the nose and shutdown?
On this thing i can ride up, stop in the middle, push down the nose and continue.
Nudging a curb at low speeds is like going up a "bonk" bump. Just climbs up.Ride feel The butteryness of Mission with Delirium when i need it. It's so damn smooth. I can imagine beginner riders will find it tricky cause it feels even less artificial than Mission. Just so smooth.
I just need my damn varials cause im not used to riding straight rails anymore.
So 420wh battery lasted me 34km into capt morgan. Might get over 40 if not pushed that hard.

that all sounds really good! almost too good... Is it better than the GT?
-
@notsure Ship me your GT so i can compare?

@notsure I will get it once it hits these shores. At least i understand now what the "omg, that torque.." thing is about when xr riders get a gt. But the limitations on self repair, ridiculous added costs to accommodate a different tire, simply depending on FM when it fails...gives me the creeps. Also i doubt that the ride quality will be superior than my current setup. Only thing would be the reliability/durability of the components as on the vesc side this has not been tested for an extended time but this is same for GT.
If it's not a big improvement over vesc setup can always sell gt and get an Inmotion v11 or something as i do plan on giving those another chance.

Managed to dremel out the bottom material of the + battery box and squeezed the 20s2p in there. It's snug like a cbxr in an XR box but bolted it down without using clamps like some people seemingly needed to do with cbxr😳. My over-expensive Ennoid bms is TARFU. Dunno what happened so filled the void with some foam to keep the wiring from rattling
The bottom obviously lost stiffness so added some carbonfiber (and some kevlar under it) to the bottom and treated the wheelside with some epoxy. The ole + box looks like new, and i have the only (bottom) bulletproof OW battery box in the world now. Nothing can punch thru this🤣

Question
When configuring the VESC, one of the options suggested by the community is to set the motor output to 3A, when on the bench monitoring the APPUI I can see it in and around 3 A draw, so why do we use packs that can output 30A to 70A if we set the vesc to just 3A?

@teddy-e I think its just for the configuration. So it doesn't haul ass thru the wall if u make a mistake.
