GTFO kit thor300 fron and back LED problem
-
Hello to all esteemed forumers,
I bought a GTFO kit to convert an OW GT to a VESC, complete with LEDs. https://www.fungineers.us/collections/gtfo
I connected everything as it should be, turned on thor300 but none of the LEDs started. I reconfigured them in VESC Tool, after a reboot the battery status LEDs fired up but the front and rear ones did not. I think I have set everything right in refloat cgf, I attach screen shots and please let me know if I made a mistake somewhere ? it could be that they are defective, i would like to know this before i start further assembling the board.

@grzewho Hiya,
This one catches me out. Idk why but in refloat’s appUI you need to toggle them on. By default they’re off it seems.
Give that a go :)

@lia Thanks a lot for your answer, you may be right, because they are disabled in my appUI. But how to save the ON setting ? there is no write button at the bottom and when I swipe to refloatCFG it doesn't hold the settings, and when i go back to appUI they are OFF, same when I restart Thor and eventually they don't turn on and in appUi they are OFF. Maybe I should put it together, go through the engine configurations etc. and only when the board is complete will it work ?

ok, so now I see that as I click Lights On/Off and the LED status bar turns on and off, in real time. When I click Headlights On/Off nothing happens :(

@grzewho Weird. It should hold the state of whatever is selected on AppUI.
Can you check if you're connected to the Thor and not vesc express. Click on CAN in the bottom right and select the Thor300 if it isn't already. You may need to redo the setup if you were in vesc express.

@lia Yes, I am definitely connected to Thor, I check every time :) maybe a little chaotically I wrote above, the status LED bar responds in real time and I can turn it off and on with a button from the app "LIGHTS OFF", but the front and rear do not respond at all when i press "HEADLIGHTS OFF" i the app. So I guess it's something else. I checked the routing of the wires from the connector to the LEDs and it looks the same as in the instructional video (how to install a GTFO kit). However, I don't like the soldering of one of the wires, the red one, and I'm wondering if that's what caused it. When i turn on the controller, front LEDs seems to turn on for a 1ms, just a blink, the rear one doesn't.

@grzewho That's got me stumped. If they're flickering on then there must be at least something going on.
Have you reached out to Fungineers yet to see if they can provide troubleshooting options? There is also their discord that's pretty helpful. https://discord.gg/gHQfFDW -
@lia I was in contact with them by @ but since a few days it seems as if the contact has broken off, I will remind myself today ;) on their discord I also posted this topic, for now not too many hints https://discord.com/channels/731226901867266149/1064595548641964072. I handled it as gently as possible. The LEDs came to me not in a nice box like on the website, but rolled together in a protective film, the package was also missing a bag with thermo paste and a cloth. I don't know was it shipped like this, or was it repacked somewhere along the way. I do not have much possibility to resolder it.
