Watching Action on the Leaderboards
-
This weeks update will be a bit late. Photoshop corrupted some art I was working on for weeks so I don't really want to look at it again for a bit. Will edit this post with the completed version when I do it later in the week once I'm over it.Worst bit is PS's autorecovery is really bad, wiping it out if it thinks it saved correctly whilst my backups ran last night destroying last weeks copy :(Banner image was from Distil Union blog

In interactions with FranKtheTank today, he noted that he has never unlinked any of his Onewheels -- like I do for various reasons -- so, anytime he has dropped off the mileage Leaderboards it has been because of inactivity for a speculated time period (days, weeks, months).
.
Frank also wrote that a faulty BMS had wiped out the lifetime mileage on his V1 -- but the app kept it going, so to the top of the V1 Leaderboard he logged his whopping 15,000 miles. Stopping then, inactivity dropped his name off the Leaderboard, and when he turned his V1 on again after more than a month the Leaderboard set him back to the mileage it had when the BMS had malfunctioned. I had wondered, because after he dropped off number one he came in later at number five or so -- I just thought he had two boards. -
@s-leon Thanks for all the info, I have been wondering about why anyone would unlink their board if they were in the top 10. This makes so much more sense.
I have been especially curious since I have been creeping up the leaderboard (currently at #13) even though I barely ride my Plus once it gets cold.

Weekly reminder that it is indeed Sunday.

Thinking of stopping these weekly updates. Been feeling like a chore so maybe it's time to pass the torch.
Would anyone else be interested in keeping an eye on the leaderboard? Doesn't have to be a fancy graphic or anything, totally up to whoever wishes to take the reigns to decide how it's done. Simple comments whenever something changes or just notable shifts.
-
@lia -- It might be good to have interested parties cover their own models -- for example I would be interested in following the Onewheel Plus and maybe the V1 Leaderboards, although not as thorough as you have been, but with interest.
-
@s-leon That sounds like a good idea :)
-
On the V1 Daystreak this week, FranKtheTanK likely ran into the same situation I was in once -- turns out you cannot ride two boards on the same Daystreak Leaderboard. The lesser streak won't register until you break the longer streak -- even if otherwise it qualifies.
-
@lia Maybe just monthly updates would make it seem less like a chore.

On the Plus mileage Leaderboard this week, longtime rider NJacobs has dropped off with everyone below moving up a place, with Enjoi408 taking #10. I remember seeing in one or more Facebook groups in the past months that NJacobs had been having board troubles.
Total mileage advancement on the Plus mileage Leaderboard this week was an even 60 miles, with the lion's share of that coming from #2, MdubM...OWMOBSHOP... By the way, Mike has changed one of his icons to an Olympic style medal with a #2 emblazoned on it -- justifiably proud of logging over 11,000 miles on his Onewheel Plus and of his position earned, near the very top of the Leaderboard.
HanahsDax continues at the top of the V1 Daystreak with almost a half year beyond second place Team 801WHEEL. With over three and a quarter years of officially documented DAILY riding on his XR and V1, HanahDax has proven to be the most dedicated Onewheel rider in the world!
Relative positions on the V1 mileage Leaderboard are unchanged. Total mileage advancement this week is 45 miles with Luckystrip007 at #10 advancing almost half of those. The top seven riders' mileages logged are unchanged.
Also unchanged are the relative positions of places on the Onewheel Plus Daystreak. Although I must say that I have always thought that that is misleading -- because each and all of the riders holding a position on any Daystreak Leaderboard have been riding daily regardless of whatever life or weather throws at them! (I know it for a fact, I have been there.)
Looking at the action on the Plus and V1 Leaderboards only, above -- week seven, Sunday, February 13, 2022.

@s-leon Which puts me 43 miles from the top 10 for my Plus 2X. Hopefully nobody else drops off. I'd like to enter the top 10 by adding miles, not by loosing people from the leaderboards. Alas, it still will take a while, that board doesn't get much love over the winter, it is pretty much a daylight savings time board.
-
@biell -- In the line-up of mileage on a Plus today I am #1111 on my other board with 686 miles. I have a ways to go -- part of the joy, though, is watching the climb.
-
@s-leon I like to think in binary, so you are #31 in my book!
-
@biell -- Binary numbers are indeed good-looking numbers. If I relink my first Plus, in binary it would be #11 -- actually, FranKtheTanK likely has passed me, so I would really be at binary #100 -- and either way, you would drop down a notch. I will try to hold off relinking; it would be great to have you on the Leaderboard!
-
@s-leon Thanks. I like to earn my place, so no hard feelings if you re-link.
It did get me to thinking, however. Would you think twice with such a highly ranked board before selling or gifting it? My wife was trying to convince me to gift my Plus to a friend when my GT arrives (apparently 2 is OK, but 3 is too many). I'm not ready to give up my first board (sentimental value and all that), but it did make me wonder how I might feel to see someone on the leaderboard with the first 6249+ mi put on by me. I literally earned those miles with blood, sweat, and tears (and a broken clavicle). Did this ever cross your mind?
-
@biell -- Really a good point. Yes, I have put thought in about what to do with a high mileage Leaderboard Onewheel -- with no clear conclusions. I am in that boat with my V1. Part-out is one thought, saving back the controller. Another is sell, gift, or trade the earned place on the Leaderboard for the meager advertising it provides -- of course, the only riders who really look at the Leaderboard are probably those on it. Do you, or anyone else here, have ideas of what to do with a retired white elephant Onewheel?

This week’s February 20th action on the Onewheel Leaderboards:
A new name on the XR Mileage Leaderboard: Squasher comes in at #4 with 20720 miles!
The long time riders on the XR Daystreak have logged a total of 262 miles this week.
The long time Plus Daystreak riders have logged a total of 185 miles. And the V1 Daystreak sees turnover in its lower reaches. Interestingly Darwin samir dropped off from #5 during the week, but regained entry and even moved up a place to #4 with fewer days and less miles than they had last week. HanahsDax stays constant at #1.
I must admit when I was riding a V1 I loved it that the bar for entry to the V1 Daystreak Leaderboard was often less than a full week of riding — in the case this week a name new to me, orijo, takes #5 on the V1 Daystreak with five days and five miles.
The Onewheel Plus mileage Leaderboard shows no change in names or order, with 99 miles logged total and Colorado rider MdubM-OWMOBSHOP at #2 logging 77% of those ninety-nine miles.
The V1 Onewheel mileage Leaderboard shows even less action than the Plus with only Southern Hemisphere rider Andre Danforth in #8 logging any miles at all — 19 miles this week.

Somebody else really should watch the Pint and Pint X Leaderboards and report in this thread. Ditto with the GT when it shows up!
-
Surprise! Two new names on the V1 mileage Leaderboard: At #9 Normands Onewheel and at #10 TJ04 (of the United Kingdom!) Welcome! It's been a long time since we saw new names here on V1. And I think this is andrew_mangel's first time as #1. Congratulations.
