@lia thanks for the info! this is a different battery though.

RE: Error 22 Incompatible Hardware Detected
ugh so range was good for a little while, but then he started getting battery temp out of range. had to walk 3 miles to get back to his car with his brick ow cause it wouldnt cycle back on. also, as you can see in the screenshot, the diagnostics page is missing a LOT of entries.
he filed an issue with owie, but it got closed, crossposting here
https://github.com/lolwheel/Owie/issues/57"OK you def have hardware issues.
- BMS is reporting over/undertemp - the status message has bit number 1 set on it.
- One of the temp sensors seems to be busted/disconnected as it's reporting 0. I don't know which one is which.
- Your cells seem to be super out of balance.
I'd suggest opening up the battery enclosure and wiggling the balance lead.
This ain't Owie issue, closing."
@Lia do you know where the battery temp sensors are? is this on the battery or the BMS?
seems like this is just another poorly made jw battery ?

RE: Error 22 Incompatible Hardware Detected
flashing was a pain and not working until i realized i had a bad usb cable lol. then it flashed beautifully. got it all nicely soldered in (was weird that the green wire from the connector was to be left disconnected for this install!). and it works! though he's only getting stock range (it's a jwxr battery), so seems Mike needs to do some more homework. oh and this is with a new (used) BMS.

RE: Hacks & Odds
@s-leon hmmm coming from a north shore downhill mountain biking background, i have gotten adept at doing ninja rolls. i did a couple recently on pavement doing about 12mph (?) without padding and without losing anything but skin.
not trying to brag, but just wanted to point out that the technique is to use your elbow and roll with the force in a somersault or cartwheel. having my arm strapped down probably wouldn't allow that and i'd be in worse shape.
since you're all armored up, have you considered also getting a mountain biking neck brace? i have one for biking, and it saves you neck at the expense of a collar bone, which is worth it. but it needs to be used with a full face helmet.

RE: XR Error 16 (repaired)
@lia said in XR Error 16 (repaired):
I second removing the chip since you've proven the likely intermittent culprits so far
so.... two test rides so far. one very careful ride and one less careful ride, no issues. on the first ride, last night, i rode it down to 1%. what was really odd is that once at 1% (i wanted to test pushback at battery depletion) it took 20 min and about 2 miles of running around my street in circles to get it to actually throw up the need juice warning.
is this normal? or some kind of battery calibration now that the ffm chip is gone?
i also notice that the mile range indicator works too, so the ffm chip was definitely affecting that even at stock.

RE: Fix stripped controller thread
@lemur ok thanks so the inserts i got are also heat set inserts. in this case the hole is too big to just melt it in. what material should i fill it in with? some other plastic and then melt it again? or glue?
-
RE: Fix stripped controller thread
@samuraipunch yes that was a new insert. thanks for the link, will try those! any thoughts on type of glue to use?
-
RE: Fix stripped controller thread
@samuraipunch thanks
i bought these
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZNWBBR3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsand used epoxy
but sadly the fucker started spinning once tightened.
any suggestions?

RE: Organising the Archive
i had a post about my flightfin switch install. is that saved in the archive somewhere by any chance?

RE: Whys of Falls
@lia damn i hope you heal quickly. i'm still suspiscious of my wheels after being ejected from the xr from error 16 onto pavement last week. it's one thing to crash because of the terrain; another to crash because the board turned off unexpectedly.... always a challenge to trust again after you get dumped ;P

Fix stripped controller thread
Anyone know how I can fix this? I tried to do the heli-coil thing but the bit doesn't thread well into the brass. Would muchly appreciate Amazon links or whatever to the parts I'll need :)

RE: XR Error 16 (repaired)
@samuraipunch I guess what I care about is error 16. Can I trust owie to not randomly throw me onto my face on the concrete?

RE: XR Error 16 (repaired)
@lia so i've been rocking the stock battery the past month (with ffm chip that jw assured me was a no-op with a stock battery) and i came to really trust it again. no issues. well, except a tiny error 16 a couple weeks ago after i got home and was just opening the gate, at an almost standstill. i didn't think much of it.
today i was riding back home and diverted onto the grass to avoid an old lady on the sidewalk. it dumped me just as i was heading back onto the sidewalk. i thought i must have hit a hole in the grass and then kept going.. about 10 seconds later, while rocking the sidewalk, it threw me off without warning. i was able to ninja roll both times, and only lost a bit of skin from my palms and some minor bruises. phone read error 16, and i bet that's what caused the first fall, not a hole.
i rode super slow all the way home like a noob. no more cutouts occurred.
so what the fuck? i'm gonna rip it open again. if i can't find anything wrong with it, i might just rip out the ffm chip and then roll the dice a little bit more again, maybe on dirt rather than pavement.
what other faulty things should i be looking for? maybe some crapped out capacitors on the bms or something?

RE: Error 22 Incompatible Hardware Detected
how hard is it to flash this thing? looks like the instructions are here below. i'm a developer so there's no excuse. i should just do it for mike.
https://github.com/lolwheel/Owiealso for mine and mike's references:

RE: Error 22 Incompatible Hardware Detected
@lemur so JW needs to flash the ffm chip?
does owie let you get the battery percentage for an extended battery just like the jwffm does?
-
RE: Error 22 Incompatible Hardware Detected
@lemur unfortunately my buddy gave away his stock battery
yes there's a jwffm chip installed. i understand what you mean by pairing it with the serial number. i thought the jwffm allowed you to use any other compatible bms, is that not correct? (currently, it is the original bms)
