    • RE: 357-T rails from Tech-Rails

I really like diversity and people's different taste for sure.
But in my opinion, I couldn't like it less:

      • I don't like the look (in my opinion is aweful, as I always hated the tech rails -and its Eiffel tower ugly look and highly overpriced-, and this is not more than the usual tech rails with perforated holes).
      • I thing is not practical for getting any dirt. Which looses the purposes for a supposed All Terrain Vehicle
      • I guess in rain conditions couldn't be a worse choice. Same with trails.

On the positive side, this could be lighter. Although I don't think will be too much lighter, and the final impact of a heavy board.
Even thought, I am glad these things exists as people likes it, and I like seen people happy. If people is happy it makes me happy although not being my cup of tea :)

    • RE: TFL and FM made a video together!

For me is a strategy to look more open against all the modder's hate reputation they are having lately. Besides I think that FM people (the ones doing all the marketing, so the visible faces) were always nice with everyone. Another story is their politics, and how they play from inside doors.
TFL as well, always like to look good, and having good relationship with FM is very good for them, and makes them look powerful against competition too...
Besides obviously, is it always get along together.
But as said before, is very important to keep the pressure, as it is very clear that FM is not doing very well at certain things, and we shouldn't forgive that, but obviously always being very polite.

      wut! i want one.

Seriously doubt it, at $700-750, it is a little bit expensive... That's fucking mental
All yours guys, I think that the DIY greedy is starting getting just insane, even worse than FM.

      Screen Shot 2022-04-21 at 13.27.09.png

Look how much is just the small cover. CNC is not cheap for sure, but in 100s units production this doesn't cost $20. Is this not greedy? For me is just abuse, the problem is the community is paying for this things... and the prices are increasing for this reason.

      Screen Shot 2022-04-21 at 13.31.10.pngScreen Shot 2022-04-21 at 14.01.59.png

Now for a VESC + BMS, we have to pay more than euro600, to start with, having a pint for around 1000. This is just starting to get insane...

    • VESC configuration, what is your ideal VESC budget/configuration with BOM?

The other day I saw a guy in the vescify discord putting his budget and I was amazed about how much now a DIY costs:

      600 - Torque Pack Battery
      250 - TorqueBox
       70 - Torque Bumper
       35 - Badger bumper
       25 - Badger bumper hardware
      300 - superflux Hub
      110 - Enduro Tire
      250 - platysense footpads
      225 - ennoid xlite 24
      300 - Lil Foc'r v3
      725 - Varial rails
             - Wiring / Connectors
             - Controller Box
             - Charger
             - Power plug
             - On/Off switch

2890$ and still missing things!! And this is in US$, in EUR will be far away worse... The GT is cheap!

My minimum start point configuration would be (althought I think the price is ridiculous all with importing/shipping):

450 - XR Hub (appox price)
      379 - Little focer
66 - Flowglider MK2 kit for controller box
      80 - Controller box printing
275 - Ennoid BMS (any cheaper 20s options compatible welcomed)
      250 - XR battery 2nd hand
      175 - XR battery box
65 - XR Bumpers (going cheap)
      250 - Kush footpads
??? - Front footpad sensor (car seat, stompies, XR/pint sensor)

Which is almost EUR2000 and I am missing things for sure...

      What do you think?
What is your ideal configuration and BOM?

Is just impressive. If you could make it work, it would be the resurrection of dead XRs...
If you could beef it up (like doing a 18s-20s), and make it much better, then this would be the vesc killer... I would be your first customer
      White looks amazing BTW...

    • RE: GTXR conversion- version 2

@lia Things like the hub, I am not saying that have too many profits. But the price is just ridiculous. I was not saying about this paricular part.

The greedy comes with other things, which has a margin of 5x (I am not saying in everything). What about the cover?

What about a BMS like Ennoid that costs 225??? (2 weeks ago maclak bought it for 180, suddenly 2 days after got increased to 200 and a day later 225, 45 is 3 days is just weird... and I think was traction...)

Or the little focer for EUR350 ($400) with the connectors in Europe. Little focer v1 cost $150 and now v3 is $300 without connectors that got increased these days after Dado's videos.

Is this acceptable.? The margin here is NOT marginal and is not just for the shortage... is more than that. It is the traction is getting for certain youtubers, and visibility, and they are incresasing the prices for convenience. As people keeps paying this is getting crazy.

I remember the days with the flaotwheel, and how cheap it was... not anymore.

@lia said in Fungineers "w" rails just dropped:

@lemur I'm impressed how cheap they are compared to some other rails.
Look pretty slick too, although I'm personally on the fence about the axle mounts. Would be nice to get a set with only one set of holes but the freedom to change built in is a bonus regardless even if not my taste. Set of rail guards would no doubt fix my issues.

@Lia What do you mean about the axle mounts?

I don't see the way to put railguards in the Fungineers rails, due to its central piece with the bevel... Which could be aesthetic but totally killed the possible support of having proper railguards.
Having said that, I find them as a bargain, compared with the INSANE price of most of the rails in the market

    • Anyone with a GT with CAD skills

      Hello guys,

Is there anyone owning already a GT with CAD skills?
It should be great to have some options for printings things like:

      • Rear footpads (high a love hump) -pontentially front footpads swapping sensors-. This could save us quite a bit fo money from FM. I am more like Kush wide shape to address comfort as some people (the float life and others) stated there were not too comfortable.
      • Car stand (I have seen in thingiverse but I am not sure the reliability of it). And this IS useful. I would love to see somethign compatible with XR too and not having to buy one for each one...
      • Any other useful stuff that now I can't think of (and I may edit afterwards).

      Any thoughts?
      Thanks

@lemur Oh I get it now, was so confused at first but this makes sense. Instead of modifying the GT stator by shaving off that extended lip you're just shimming the hub plate to it can sit on the extended lip.

That is so clever, I'd have never thought to do it that way! This is by far the best and least destructive method and I love it.

Call me stupid, but I still don't understand the idea...

    • RE: £500 ($650) a good price for a Plus?

It is a fantastic deal for vescify... same hub and structure of the XR.
If someone wants to have a good base to have a vesc, is an amazing deal... the hubs today are SO expensive in Europe...
Just the tire itself is one of the best outhere, and quite pricey (if you could find it)
If I had that several weeks ago, I wouldn't have to buy a XR (quite more expensive).

@ed_co I dont have one, photo is not mine..
The boltholes...well if the pad is installed with only those and the 2 front ones, the thane would be too flexible since it only grips at the extremities. The wheelside ones could just tear...i think. Just too little material there.

Thought it was thick enough, probably I am wrong. Anyway, let's see how the float life solves it.
