City/State/Regional/etc. Meet-up Sections?

I was just wondering if we could/should set up a section where people can find each other to set up group rides, or to just make friends in their area.
I don't know anyone personally in my city who rides, but i see other people riding around all the time. I am looking for friends to ride with, and my guess is that my situation is not unique...
(doh, i may have put this in the wrong place by mistake. if so, sorry!)

@franko I could setup a category for "meetups" or something like that if you want.
A place to list or ask for riders in an area to go ride and organise? -
@lia yeah, that's what i was thinking -- do you think it would be useful? i just wasn't sure if we should try to split it up into countries or regions or even finer, to make it easier for people to navigate. what do you think?

@franko Sounds like it'd be useful. Sub-cats for certain regions could be good so we can mute individual areas that we're not actually in just in case.
I guess the major continents would be a good start, then the threads within can be more specific?
