Pint or pint X for 8 years old
-
Hello.
I want to buy a onewheel for my boy 8 years and around 30kg.
Is pint enough or is better to find a pint X ?
I will try also (88kg) but if I find this good I would perhaps by amocher one for me.
Thanks

@bigorne for your son a regular pint would be more than enough. You may need to experiment with his footwear so the footpad detects him as some shoes with less weight is hard to detect.
For yourself a PintX would be great. You should both get similar enough range currently to enjoy rides together :)

@lia for 88kg (which is around 200 pounds) I would suggest a GT instead. The PintX would struggle a bit..

bout footpad detection on a lighter rider is worth keeping in mind — at 30kg an 8-year-old may need some experimentation to get consistent engagement, so testing in person before buying makes sense. The comment about the rider at 88kg struggling on a PintX is also fair; if you end up wanting your own board for regular riding at that weight, a model with more power would likely suit you better than sharing the same spec as your son. Starting him on the regular Pint seems the sensible choice.

'm curious how you decide when a BMS is worth repairing versus just replacing it, since the big power MOSFETs sound like the point where it stops being practical. For identifying equivalents when the original part is gone, what do you usually compare — package, voltage and current ratings, gate charge? I'm still learning this side of things, so hearing how experienced people narrow it down without guessing would be genuinely useful.

w much of a mental reset a year away takes. What strikes me in these posts is how the gear and the confidence are tied together: losing the guards is a cost, but the pause is what reshapes how you approach the next attempt. I'd be curious whether the first ride back was cautious or deliberately slow. Either way, the fact that the next fall is being anticipated rather than feared seems like a decent sign.

self, so the friend request is just the gate. In the meantime, use the 4208 hex that was emailed and log the checksum against the 4212 before you flash anything. If the two revisions differ, note the byte offsets so others can compare. Posting a plain-text checksum here is usually enough to confirm you got the right file without uploading it.
