Error yellow 17 hot or cold with normal temp

@lemur
This is the must usefull thing a read anywhere. Thank you!
First i got pushbacks and had to reboot to go a few miles or km with it. Today i could not move anything. Almost instantly getting the yellow 17 problem even with 27-31C around 90F. So sometimes it can work yes. Yesterday it looked like i could go anywhere but if i stop i may have to reboot to ride again. But later on i got pushback and had to stop.
I sure this is the problem, but who would fix it for me? Or should I stay safe and send it back? I still risking the shipping money i guess. They will only tell is it faulty or I made the damage when they can see it. -

@agyas For sure, send it back , once you open the board up , no warranty. Sounds like a thermistor or faulty thermistor wire but there are no used PX batteries yet.
-
@samuraipunch that would be the best if i could get my money back. My local shop still have new XR. Can i ask a refund if i bought it 3 weeks ago, have more then 400km on it but it's faulty? Some scratch ofc but nothing serious.
-
@agyas If I were you I would insist & you can try that if you haven't opened anything & if your Pint looks like new. Good luck!
-
@agyas If you're in the EU you should be fine to drop it off at the retailer for "warranty". Although, they'll really serve as an in-between and ship it off to FM more than likely. You may be able to use the EU's stronger warranty laws to your benefit, in that it's defective. There's no if ands, or buts to it. PX has a flawed design that bites people. You got bit. Since basically NO RETAILER services OWs that's an authorized dealer, you'll be out a board if you intend to keep it.
The XR is kinda meh imo, it's past its prime as your retailer likely has 4212's, and that limits your battery upgrade options down the line if you become interested. Otherwise it's ok...

4212's
if the vesc hardware had a way to communicate with a stock bms, im sure one could port over the owie stuff to a software plugin. an auxiliary serial port of some kind could be useful in general.

@samuraipunch
Told them about the faulty desing and it wouldn't be great if i have to send it back from Europe every so often. They replied with a shipping reservation for me. So i just have to drop it off there.Will I be albe to change battery in PX or will it forget everything like the GT?
Still as far as i know the PX is reliable, so i will be happy with it. Just need a bigger tire and softer footpads.
One thing i will miss is the 2 wheel at the front. I know i can buy for Pint but the pusback much more agressive so it's not that good as on XR.
And i thought the XR is easier to fix in the long run.
I'm not sure what to do if i get it back. Cause i could still sell it. -
@agyas You can change the battery in a PX... but why and how? There isn't anyone making replacement batteries for them to my knowledge. And it's not like there's a better battery option either. It's so crammed full already, noone's going to figure out an impossible way to put 15 more 18650's in it. The only other option would be to use 21700's but you'd go from a 15S2P to a 15S1P for that, and effectively have a Pint w/ a Quart battery; basically half the range.
I'd still try to return it, or resell it when it comes back.
@NotSure I don't see why you couldn't wire up a different/vesc compatible plug/harness from OWIE to a lil f'er... Although if you did, you don't really need the bms/controller communication... Besides your board/bms management would mostly be done through OWIE, and charging would probably look like a VNR setup into the BMS, so it should balance as well... I'm pretty sure there are some kits that maintain the FM BMS, and replace everything else

@samuraipunch I don't want to change the battery now, but have to do it after like 5 years or something, and would be great if i don't have to send it back for that
