A good friend and fellow OW'er featured with me in an online article.

Let me know what you think? Have we missed the point?

Somehow without mentioning, a photo from @S-Leon made it into the story? I shared the photo but also a few words about our legendary friend. You should comment on the article @S-Leon to claim your ownership of that beast of a board.

    • RE: Watching Action on the Leaderboards

Are the Northern Hemisphere riders back out riding yet? Or still too bleak?

I'm still climbing on the XR mileage rank, where previous years it would slow down or even go backwards around this time of year as Northerners get out there again. Maybe a big percentage has moved to the GT and parked their XR's? πŸ™„

@notsure @Lia yeah, bit unfair in my favour. Summer here in Oz and it's usually when I make up a heap of places on the mileage board. Based on my usual rate I should be at 10k by end of Jan.

Not the first of these I have shared, but this python caught my eye on someone's drive as I rode home last night. Had a real stumpy tail, probably and old injury.

. . getting too randy and went down.

Has the meaning of the word Randy changed?
      ☺️

Sometimes I push the speed boundary when a good song comes on, can't say I've had that reaction though.

@biell 100%, those posts are crap and the useless nutserts spin from the factory. I've busted all those posts on 2 sets of bumpers on my XR.

    • RE: High Mileage!

@lia yep rolled over on 31st Jan. This is today.

      Screenshot_20220219-152512.png

2nd set of bearings, 3rd tire but original battery. Great 'feel good' milestone and it blows away anyone that asks that these machines are so durable.

That being said, workshop day tomorrow, new bearings, tire and a battery swap. The original cells get way out of balance if I don't use it for 2 or more days. The old cells will repack into some drill battery packs so not wasted.

A friend is bringing over his pint for a tire change and GT40 kit install.

    • Peatys Tubeless Sealant with Bio-Glitter!

Picked up another thumbtack in my tyre today. I didn't bother with slime when I installed it as I went for a treaded tyre.

Not a biggie but which slime to buy? I have some mushrooms but they are intended for bigger holes and I would have to butcher the tyre to get the mushroom πŸ„ in.

Armordilloz isn't common here in Aus ($55 + p&p) and I forgot to order some with my last tyre order from the U.S.

So down to the local shoppie so I can get home today and they offered up some Peaty's Tubeless Sealant, eco friendly with no micro fibres but does include biodegradable glitter platelets!

Honestly it reads like a vegan sugar free chemical experiment that will save the world.

@Lia it's apparently made by a UK mountain biking legend, Steve Peat, who I'm sure must be a friend of yours given how small the U.K. is.

I will report back in the coming months with a further product review. 😁

@lia said in Torque of onewheel motors:

Now I feel like some actual science needs doing. We need to make a Onewheel Dyno lol

Timing is good for this, lately I've been working on a similar question for another project. If we can measure the acceleration doing a nose drag (time to cover 10 or 20m) then we can calculate the torque pretty easily. Human Dyno! Anyone with fangs want to give it a run?

    • RE: High Mileage!

Just finished putting in the new pack etc. Wow. You guys are in for a treat with your GT's. It felt like it had shifted to delerium! Really responsive. The old packs must really suffer from voltage sag.

Going from an XR with an old battery to a new GT will be awesome.

    • RE: Torque of onewheel motors

@onedangt said in Torque of onewheel motors:

@notsure And yet another question, what amount of torque/power would it take so the board could totally prevent nosedives?

Good question and not too hard to approximate an answer. Leaning fwd a loooong way, your centre of gravity could be as much as 1m in front of the axle, so the motor would need to produce about 1,000N.m of torque to prevent you leaning further forward. Those are pretty big numbers and I suspect the tyre would just lose traction.

People quoting power as the be all of nose dives is misleading. Torque is what the rider feels as acceleration. Lets say my really rough numbers earlier are true and the little XR can produce 200N.m of torque. I'm putting a 144V 110kW electric motor into a car conversion and it only produces 220N.m of torque, but it does rev to 8,000rpm. The XR motor is a low speed high torque electric motor.

    • RE: Back to Double Digits DayStreak!

@onedangt walked out of the bakery yesterday after picking up a pie n coke. An old guy and his son (who was probably 50 or at least in his 40's) went completely silent as I mounted the board and silently rolled away with both hands full of food. Haha, so glad I kept it together, heard the. ...."wow" as I rounded the corner.

Snapped this on my first ride to work for the year. I always wonder if the spelling errors are intentional??

Will do better next time and include the board. πŸ™„
