    • Back to Double Digits DayStreak!

On the old forum I shared some bitter disappointment when my day streak was broken (thanks to FM's servers) back in Sept. @Lia predicted that I'd catch up quickly as winter would cause many to quit riding. I've held dearly to that hope ... and Christmas day brought a great surprise: 99! Back to double digits! Whee!

Of course, that is the day I realized that FM's own community site wasn't working ... so I couldn't post my joy. But here we are on @Lia's latest champion effort ... and I'm thrilled stoked. :)

    • RE: Environments

I ride mostly trail and find myself concerned for critters. In warm months, snakes are a bit tricky for me as I'm always trying to second guess my vision: Is that a stick or a snake? Hmmmm ... I've had some narrow misses with live sticks (snakes). Frogs are also a frequent obstacle on night rides.

The cats on our property also become a hazard as they simply assume we would never hurt them ... even as they dart into our path at the last moment. (Good thing they have 9 lives?)

P.S. My problems with snakes isn't new to my OneWheel adventures. I have a history of stepping on snakes around here. I just don't see them?? And, apparently, they don't see/hear/feel my approach either. I really try to avoid them and will go out of my way to free both snakes and lizards when they are caught in our fruit tree netting or garden fencing. I've worked really hard to free those critters ... and hate when any harm comes to them.

@lia Oh, that is so neat! Having it as right side border of the Wall of Stoke category seems like a good place.

So ... the big (BIG!) question ... how far have you gotten restoring the monster Leaderboard thread? ;-)

    • RE: Environments

@notsure -- We've had plum, apple, apricot, and peach trees; blueberry bushes and grape vines.

However, 2016 was a bad drought and sadly our well couldn't keep up. We had to stop irrigating. The grape vines made it ... but not the fruit trees or blueberry bushes. We've put more emphasis, since, on native landscaping and "volunteers." If it wants to grow ... and it provides either a visual screen or shade ... and it doesn't attract too much negative attention from the neighbors ... I'm inclined to let it be.

but the yellow jacket vibe that @HorsePlay used (?)

As to the question mark: Yes, I had customized a strong black/yellow board ... but did not order it. Had it in the cart -- but couldn't pull the trigger.

Rather, I favored a comment that may have been from @b0ardski (?) about renting a GT from Suprents, playing with it and then determining if the board said, "Keep me" vs "nah, send me back." After riding it ... is it irresistible? Hmmmm ... we'll wait and see.

@lia said in Maybe a GT category?:

Shall we keep the categories or prefer to use tags? (I'll wait a bit for everyone to vote)

Hmmmm. I favor tags ... but it becomes a matter of culture.

I am of the mind that no structure is ever perfect and that creating too many levels within the structure becomes both a blessing and a curse ... sliding farther towards 'curse' over time.

@notsure, Awww -- sorry. I clicked on your link and listened for a few moments. Yeah, I get it. Sorry to have triggered that ear worm.

Living in Southern California, everything here ties back, in one way or the next, to the music from Disneyland's Small World attraction. It seems inescapable. Recently, I've just given in to it ... when we visit Disneyland, we ride It's a Small World. Sure, why not? It is gonna be in your head anyway ...
