Hi all -- i've painted my fender many times, but now i think the time has come to strip off the many layers of paint i have on mine and start from a clean base before putting on a new paint scheme. Anyone have any tips on what to use and how to strip it off? I googled around some, and there are many, many products made to strip paint out there (of course), but i suspect they are more for wood or metal, and i'm concerned about damaging the plastic. One tip said to use oven cleaner (!!), and i'm tempted because i have it on hand, but... any idea if it will work?

@notsure i just used a standard can of Rustoleum primer for plastics. that worked great. Does it make a difference when stripping paint?

@franko I dunno if this issue have solved already for you.
But use dr.Google with keywords 'DOT4 brake fluid + paint removing + plastic'
Motocyclists with loads of painted plastic parts talk about this (+ other methods) on their forums.
