toe straps off old snowboard bindings,

oh man i love that! does it work?

the straps work like the toe hooks on my 1st wheel, really helps keep the ball of my feet engaged when doing big fast heelside carves!!
just set my lifetime speed to 21.7 doing big full street wide arched back carves in my favorite recently paved low/no traffic zone! staightlining at 21 feels sketchy, carving big at that speed feels stable

@lemur I guess, there's kinda two topics going on in this thread...

The purpose and main one being, that I want to get the community that's on the GT, "off the X" and so that at a consumer level there's a fix to the footpads, and don't worry about ghosting. Basically a bottom up approach at trying to get FM to fix or design a better front footpad unit.

And the other being that to me the OW as platform, while it revolves around FM isn't one I want to support going forward even as a Vesc conversion; as I'm sinking more money into an existing FM based product. A Vesc build that's independent of FM may be plausible down the line, as a new build/project.

But I feel that it'll always remain handicapped by form factor. As I don't see how it will be possible to reach higher voltages without increasing the size of the footpads, and their thickness; without drastically altering how the board feels, without corrections through rail shape/geometry.

@swinefeaster I'm not sure about your inserts, but the ones I use are larger in diameter than the originals. Jb weld epoxy will work.

@notsure You put the ice cream in a cone, and do interviews while eating it? I'm sure details like a vendor, or grocery/convenience store, cooler, etc are likely involved, but that's over complicating Jeff eating ice cream.

I like seeing these projects where it's just someone's heart and soul poured into something to make it essentially it's own entity.

These kinds or projects remind me of this riddle/paradox thing: If you take Abraham lincons axe, and you replace both the axehead and the handle, is it still his axe?
      just a dumb thought :)

@lemur I'm surprised it's keyed since the plug is hard mounted to the PCB. Simple fix like you said.

Good idea limiting the current. Don't want them to burn up too soon D: I was tempted to try making some better GT headlights but since the LN2 XR based ones haven't even sold out yet I don't think I can justify it. Stock seems plenty anyway on a GT.

I've been using Seeeduino's and those are pretty fun yet tiny if you ever want to experiment with some other microcontrollers.

@lemur I've given it some thought and I might take a swing at making an alternative daughterboard for the GT to accept the new Superflux V2 connector. Gonna be very DIY and hands on but a nice clean solution if I can pull it off.

Gotta finish a few other things up first. The new XR based controller housing for Fungineers is nearing completion so I should have some time after that to give it a swing.

@hanahsdax Sorry to hear you didn't get to ride as much or complete part 3 of your experiment.
Although 5 years of daystreaking is amazing!

I hope you manage to do it next year and many more amazing rides. With that GTS I'm sure you'll have the sped to get them done extra quick ^-^

@franko ha, ya I only ever grab one if someone else wants to go get one. And everyone I'd run into with a one wheel would tell me where the meetups were. I killed a battery sometimes twice a day I was on it so much.

@lia I totally understand! No worries about the address. I wouldn’t mind meeting up at a restaurant or coffee shop near your place, or I could even leave the board with you if that works better. Maybe we could chat somewhere privately, like Messenger or something, to sort out the details. And of course, I understand there’ll be a cost for the repair.

Let me know if that sounds good to you!

One flaw was the tail would touch on hard braking due to the suspension squat

That's something I'd have never considered. Guess the only real option is to angle the tail section up a little like Flight Fins TailRails.

Hope you can find one, if I spot anything on Reddit I'll let you know :)

@maciak said in TFL subscription: Community or pure greed?:

Amazon? You mean Prime? If so, that comes with streaming and free shipping and it's a bit bigger shop/different concept.

yup thats it. subscription service in a nutshell. its too early to tell if its a net positive or not.

a retail price hike would probably hurt sales cuz the market is relatively small, with a growing number of competitors. C&R is a proven retailer. they just get it done!

TFL has always seemed like more of brand leader to me tho. they offer bodhi-flavored underwear n stuff n ppl just dig it. a TFL sub might be worth it for those that like the branded items. that retro pager and bodhi sandals r pretty sweet. papers too lol... a tie dyed limited edition of each would be the kinds of items u might not be able to get without a sub.

its a smart play imo. i like how they think.

Go annoy the shit out of Adoah on the OW discord, he's pretty responsive there, along with datboig, they're both pretty involved with the coding for OWIE. Also Adoah's fork of it has quite a few things worked in like locking the board too.

Unlike the OW mods, he's somewhat knowledgeable/competent for some specific OW things.

@NotSure omg, right? i'm gonna take it out for a ride today, and i'm going to live in fear of rolling it every moment.

@b0ardski i love the idea of matching rails! i picked this color because at certain angles it takes on a greenish tint like the sage rails i have, so it still works in my mind, but rails that changed color like that, hmmmm..... so tempting!

Test page setup with @biell s suggestion :)
      https://archive.owforum.co.uk/test.html

Any joy with that? Seems to behave the same on my iPhone (clunky at first as it filters the initial massive block.

If not I assume we can just have it so there is a search button that only allows the filter to run once clicked thus removing that initial lag on entry and also prevents the search running as you type.
