I'll start off with a comparison photo, GT with the psycho tuna sticker and the TFL colorway GTS.

      PXL_20231101_210655466.jpg

I couldn't believe it myself, but I can feel the weight difference when carrying the GTS down the stairs. I mean, it's only a couple of pounds, but definitely feels lighter.

From the second I stepped on and leveled out, I could feel the difference, it just smoothly balanced out, unlike my previous boards where there's like a little "catch" that balances you. I took it on my normal daily ride and, besides the range (which was showing 20 miles and turned out to be pretty accurate), almost the entire ride was improved. Sidewalk and pavement cracks disappeared, like I couldn't even feel them. I tried to not de-weight any bumps for the first half of the ride and it just ate up all the smaller bumps and powered right over the bigger ones, never losing grip at all.

My approx half mile off road gravel/dirt paths felt noticeably more confident. I wasn't as careful choosing my lines as it didn't seem to matter as much as it used to. Coming off the gravel back onto the path there's an inch or inch and a half bump to go up. I normally take that cautiously, but on the GTS I barely felt it. Perhaps part of that is the tire and part the available power.

On my GT, my highest ever speed was exactly 20.0 mph. Here's my ride results:
      Screenshot_20231101-151831.png

I didn't try to go 22 mph and was really just doing my usual "get up to a comfortable speed" thing. Was pretty strange glancing at my watch and almost always seeing 21!

I have a few relatively steep hills to climb, but they almost didn't seem to exist. And heading into the wind, I was like "what wind?". I could feel it, but it wasn't slowing me down at all. I actually hit my first high of 22.1 going against the wind.

Will try keeping the speed down a bit next time (yeah, right) to see if I can get more range, but what fun is that?

@notsure Really hope you get to ride your board. Would love to hear how you compare it to the XR.

      Went straight to Apex.

I was a Delirium rider on my XR and nothing but Apex on my GT. When the GTS arrived, I tried the popular Flow thinking with all the extra power, I wouldn't "need" Apex. Got to my 1/2 mile dirt road turn around point and Flow wasn't doing it for me on the dirt, although the ride to get there was nice. Switched to Apex and rode home and liked that a lot. Next day, stayed on Apex and wasn't as smooth at speed, so wanted Flow back, lol.

Long story long, I did this to Flow and so far it really feels improved for my riding.

Edit: @LOAFFETTE, this also beefed up the low speed torque, so now it accelerates quick at almost any speed.

Interesting Reddit post here showing an email thread with the CSPC. Seems I was not too far off saying FM really needs to concentrate some efforts on safety improvements.

@s-leon Finally got another break in the non-stop rain here in Sacramento and I run into Jeff McCosker out by himself. He asked what I was up to and I told him I was looking for dry places to ride. Two thirds of my normal daily ride are inaccessible due to water on the bike trails!

    • RE: Future Motion announcement in twelve hours

So I went over to TFL (it's like 6 blocks from my house) and saw them recording a video with a new GTS. Jeff finished up the video and personally helped me pick out some new sidekicks so I can put my GTS into "in cognito" mode right away.

Turns out, it wasn't his GTS, but a customer's and I think they were putting new rails on it. He has the lowest order number he's heard of, yet his hasn't shipped yet! I ordered Saturday night and mine shipped today. He said there's a guy in Illinois that got his already. I told him he should have ordered using a different name! LOL

I mentioned this forum, maybe we'll get a new member. ;)

      Got tread?

So I hopped on my board yesterday for my birthday ride and my tire was dead flat. Must've run over something the day before. This was the OEM performance tire and it had just over 1800 miles on it. Still some wear left, as I ride mostly pavement, but was getting a bit angled on the edges.

Coincidentally, TFL came out with a new treaded tire, the ThunderCat, on Friday. So what is one to do when they live 6 blocks from TFL headquarters???

      ThunderCat on GTS.jpg

Took it out after the install (also needed a new power cable clip, didn't feel like I broke it, but one more trip to TFL to grab a nice metal one and I was good) and am definitely happy with my purchase.

This tire has some major grip, both on the pavement and in the dirt. I'm a 90% pavement rider, but also an ABC rider, so the hold on the carves is confidence inspiring and the transitions are buttery smooth. The tire is louder than the performance tire, but I kind of like being able to tell how fast I'm going just by the sound. It may quiet down as the tire wears, but it's not too loud as to be annoying.

It does feel a lot like the GOAT I have on my GT with how well it holds a carve and the dirt/gravel confidence. I actually took it through some loose gravel today and was able to carve, whereas on the old tire, I wasn't confident enough and would try to ride straight through gravel.

Anyone that likes the Hoosier T2 or the GOAT would be well served with this tire.

    • RE: ReWheel | Can it be used to modify the max speed?

@loaffette Being an ex-software engineer, this did kind of pique my interest, so thanks for the link.

That said, the main goal of the project is to take a dumped (copied from your board) copy of your OW firmware (currently, Pint, Pint X, or XR), patch it with some changes, and then flash it back onto your board. I looked at the dump process and, as they say in the notes, it's not for the faint of heart as it seems to require some mods to the circuit board and some special equipment. It's not like FM puts USB ports on their OW to allow these kinds of things (woudn't that be nice?).

Having owned an XR and currently riding a Pint X and a GT, my interest would be to up the speed limit on the pushback for the Pint X. I ride my GT pushing 20 mph and my XR I could get up to 19 mph as pushback was quite weak on the XR. The Pint X is my vacation board, but with the super aggressive pushback at exactly 16 mph, coming from the GT, it takes some getting used to to stay within that limit.

I've read through all the notes and it seems they have patches to make the Pints' riding modes mimic the XR and patches to adjust the nose elevation on all of the boards, but nothing to alter the pushback speeds.

So, if it were possible to patch the Pint X to bump the pushback to 18 mph (which I think it can handle as the Pint X seems to have as much, if not more, torque than my XR did), I'd be very interested, but I don't think I would risk bricking or breaking my Pint X to dump and flash the firmware using the methods described.

If you want to be the guinea pig however, I'd be willing to follow in your footsteps! :D

    • RE: jOneDanXR Ready for a New Home

@biell Thx for the info! My usual thoughts are that the amount you can sell something for is EXACTLY the amount someone is willing to pay you for it! I'll give the forum a few days and see what happens. At least if someone from here picks it up, I know it won't be some newb that'll go out and crash it and hurt themselves. The only other way I'd feel comfortable selling it is locally on OfferUp or something, where I could meet face to face and take cash.

    • RE: GT production update January 14/ 2022

Just got a shipping email for all my bundle parts for my GT! Even more interesting is that the shipping status for my order shows the GT is "Preparing for shipping" . . . looks like it should be shipped on Monday. I'm about 90 miles from Future Motion, so I expect it to arrive on Tuesday, woohoo!!!

Coincidentally, I ordered a Pint X last week for my vacation home and that's arriving there on Tuesday as well (although I won't be there until March 7). Gonna be floating on brand new and different boards soon!

    • RE: GT Rebuild

@lia No reveal yet, but I swapped to a GOAT tire today (had a 2,000 mile Enduro with worn out shoulders). The GOAT is really nice, very similar to the Hoosier Treaded Whisper T2 on the OneDanXR. Compared to the Pint X I was riding here, the GT with the new tire is night and day!

The Enduro came off in like 2 minutes and the GOAT went on just as fast. The 2 beads popped at 50 and 60 psi. Overall, a somewhat painless process compared to the 2 days it took me to swap out the OEM tire on the Pint X when I first got it.
