RE: First Ride 55 yr old fat man 245lbs
@chippmover -- Take your time, enjoy every little bit of progress, enjoy every single ride, while not being in a hurry to master it all too quickly.
Sixty-five I was when I started riding. Once a family-man onlooker told me that riding a Onewheel seemed a young person's sport, "...not for someone like you who should know better!" Looking him in the eye I flatly told him, "I do know better... I wear gear!" showing off my knee pads, wrist guards, and elbow pads. Since then I've even added more gear -- a Fox Titan Pro armored vest with shoulder and back protection, and hip armor of my own devising. Overconfidence leads to falls -- stay humble.

RE: One Wheel Plus Magnetic Resistance for a of a Rotation & Audible Thudding
@jordan5100 -- Hi. Simple things first: My guess is you've already ruled out fender rubs or nubs under the fender; made sure the bolts holding the wheel to the rails are torqued evenly each/both sides; and checked for tyre irregularities.
Personally, not being sure of myself opening up the motor, if it was mine I'd probably trade out the whole motor for another. If you are adventuresome -- you could part the stator and hub, and you could probably find a stator (or hub) to remedy the problem. Or, once open, the source of the noise might then be clear, and a solution will work its way into your head (and hands).
Again, though, I'm more of a Onewheel rider than a technician of Onewheel insides, and to me, to minimize board down time I'd swap out motors for one kept in my reserve jumble of parts for just this kind of situation.
Others in the OWForum here are more detail oriented!

@hanahsdax -- Wow! Fantastic and inspiring photograph!

RE: Vesc Conversion Status (Rose/Mika)
@loaffette -- I suggest that you might want to wear some armor. A Fox Titan Pro Jacket (with some extra CE padding in the leading shoulder and elbow) has let me get back up and ride away from an handful of high speed crashes. That with a helmet, knee pads, and wrist guards. Also, on my hips, I wear knee/shin guards -- no more bruised thighs.

@hanahsdax -- Daystreak #1's in both the GT and GT-S!!! Congratulations!!! A screenshot of your app would look impressively good!

RE: Im looking for a replacement tire for a my one wheel pint
@jessejedi -- A cheap alternative to get riding quickly might be tire sealants like Armor-Dilloz or Slime (off-road).

RE: An Ounce (a few grams) of Prevention
Ha! ...I fell again today -- certainly not on purpose -- No injuries to speak of. Too fast I hit a gnarly root ridge in the pavement on a less familiar section of Greenway, which destabilized the Onewheel ride. At first I thought I could ride it out... but in a foot-wobbly instant it seemed a good chance to fall uncontrolled -- limbs-akimbo. My body's simple, immediate reaction to that sudden realization was to relax, collapse forward, and rhymically roll, rather than fall hard on my face or fall scattered backwards.
Again, it worked! My armor took the brunt of impact and the slide from pavement to gravel. Sum total of injury: Two small, superfluous scrapes on different sides of my leading ankle... that's it... but again the surprise -- that I'm not even sore from the fall! Checked the board, straightened the fender, tightened the batteries, and Onewheeled the seven-and-a-half more miles -- of my twenty today -- back to the electric bicycle.

@loaffette -- Help yourself... Personally, my diet is entirely plant-based.

RE: An Ounce (a few grams) of Prevention
Another fall today -- probably around the 22.5mph top speed I recorded. I think maybe I overdrew the battery, pushing too hard when I knew it would be low on charge.
But... No injuries! Or almost none. I did scrape and bloody the same two knuckles I have scraped in two other major falls, but not as badly as in those, So, the knuckle-covering old knee pad I wear did help some -- but it got pushed too easily out of the way. I will work to correct that.
My reactions as the motor cut out and the nose dipped?
Even before I hit pavement I was vigorously throwing myself onto my back -- twice, now three times, proven to keep me whole. Then I just slid on the hard plastic back scallops of the Fox Titan Pro that I always wear while Onewheeling. The fresh scrapes on my Scabs knee pads are the most visible. The shoulder pad has fresh scrapes, too. No noticeable new scapes on the knee-and-shin-guard I use as hip armor -- but the coat covering it on this unseasonably cool June day has fresh rips. And of course, there are fresh striations on the Fox Titan Pro hard plastic back armor.
I think my trailing foot grazed the ratchet strap ratchet that holds my wooden fender on the Onewheel. Maybe I'll put some foam over that piece of metal -- or else maybe an old knee pad.
Again -- No significant injuries to this hundred-forty pound, seventy-one year old body! I am overjoyed!
Edit: Oh! and I'm up from Onewheel Plus Leaderboard Daystreak number 50 yesterday to number 26 today. And I plan to ride again tomorrow.

@yommoto -- Through the woods and farm fields on the Western Reserve Greenway Trail in Ashtabula County.
Not really anywhere near Akron.
