Does rim bead protectors affect OW tire profile & circumference?
-
Every once in a while I've been flickering around this theory and can't seem to find any reference of ppl being discussing over such matter in reddit or FB.
Well .. we do know that all(?) of the OW tires are bias ply. Therefore they (slightly) get bigger in diameter the more air pressure you run. Also, tire profile is rounder if more inflated and flat spot in middle gets wider if less inflated. I hope that part is acceptable to all and doesn't lead away.
Now -- does the rim bead/flange protecting parts ...
[ either it being TFL "Life Savers" ; "Rim Shields" ; any custom 3D-printed ones etc. ]
... ever affect tire profile & (centre) circumference noticeably due to fact they a little bit reduce hub-motor rim hollow width where the tire seats on?I mean - we do have seen how the look of tire changes with 'Growler' and 'Prowler' builds, right? And how "Life Savers" or uncovered beads are protruding out in either mods. But .. let's say .. I'm not into either extreme ends -- say it being stock XR hub rim w/ stock Vega MBM (or any other 6.5" tire). Would the shape form center change on the same designated measurements tire if bead-to-tire contact surfaces are brought closer to each other? Anyone experienced smth?
