My XR started randomly turning off while riding. It has about 1600 miles on it now. A year ago when it had 800 miles on it, I blew up my knee on it so I "sold" it to a friend. He lost his job shortly after so he never fulfilled his part of the deal. I just got it back but he warned me that it would intermittently shut off and dump him.
I'm mostly healed up but of course I don't want to fall unnecessarily so I tore into it looking for a root cause. I'm 95% sure I found the reason it doesn't this and wanted to share in hopes it helps someone else.
Inside the controller, underneath the circuit board I found what I think is a design defect. This is a 4212 w Gemini XR.
