error 16 xr+
-
Hey.
My error 16 happened out of nowhere (after riding in the rain tho).
I ride my ow 5k to the train and then another 3 after that. The 5k was no problem but after I tried to turn on the board after the train it would no turn on from the power button. How ever it would turn on if it was plugged in to the wall and diagnostics shows that battery temp is 0 degrees.
Now i have opened my battery pack and saw some oxidation around some parts of the bms and some corrosion underneath one of the xt90 where the battery harness connects. I did clean the whole bms with a soft toothbrush and some IPA and still the same error message.
So the questions goes how likely is it the bms is broken or could it be something else like the whole battery cells or the battery harness? And if it's the bms where would I find a bms that is compatible for a 4210. I have found this one https://witzwheel.com/products/onewheel-xr-bms-w-only-353-miles-of-use-free-shipping-in-the-us but what would the modification be?
Thanks for the help in advance

Add ok so i was able to find a person who was willing to sell me his on 4209 bms and controller to me and we tested it inside my board with my old battery pack and his working bms and my 4210 controller and it started to charge but from 1% even tho multimeter showed 61.5v and the timer in the onewheel app was showing random times. And after charging the battery to 15% we tried to power it in but nothing happened. Then we put his working bms and controller in the board and after this it would not even power on and was throwing error 16 message. So my question now is that what could be the problem now. I think he did short the bms for a split second because he connected the controller xt60 plug the wrong way and the leads touched each other.

@h7per Your original problem may have been a broken wire inside the main harness, these XR harnesses have kinks in the small wires that can break, the other is connecting the xt60 even for a split second may have destroyed the 4209 bms.
Can you get the main harness from the person that sold you the 4209 controller and bms? -
@lemur Can you talk me through connecting and disconnecting the BMS from the main battery to avoid damage please?

@ikaruspint "Disconnecting a Onewheel BMS (Battery Management System) involves disconnecting specific connectors in a particular order to avoid potential issues. The general procedure is to disconnect the balance connector, followed by the battery's XT60 connector, then the communication wires. It's crucial to wait after disconnecting the balance connector before disconnecting the XT60 to prevent errors. "
As long as the balance connector is disconnected first and battery XT60, next the other connectors can be disconnected in any order.
Remember the for reconnecting it's the opposite, the balance connector is last, also wear latex or rubber gloves as touching the bms circuit board with your bare fingers can trigger the bms to turn on.
