I'm in the process of planning a large upgrade to the forum to bring it in line with the latest major release. Should run a little better and come with a few new features.

I'm going to run an upgrade to the latest release on a sandboxed offline copy of the forum so I can test it out first and make sure nothing too drastic changes that may cause confusion.

If all goes well I'll be taking another backup and scheduling in the upgrade with some prior warning in case I need a bit more downtime than expected.

Back then I figured it is "board-less onewheel ethusiast" sincerely looking out for all of those aftermarket options and stubbornly sharing it with the rest of community since the loads of eBay offers didn't match to its preferred location etc.

There is now a Wiki Editors group that currently has access to view and edit the pages. Myself and @cheppy44 are in there for testing purposes but I will likely expand on this soon and start accepting submissions to be an editor.

I will be strict on admissions though, ideally it'll be those in the community with an extensive knowledge of at least a single board so that the information can be vetted appropriately. There will be an editor only sub-category where you can all discuss changes if desired. Private and invisible to everyone but global mods and admins ofc.

(off topic but while making the group I fixed the thumbnails for the groups so they're not blurry anymore. They were really bad before lol)

I will agree, it's nice to have a haven away from the usual drama. That and handling anything larger sounds like a nightmare so I haven't thought much more about announcing it. Besides anyone looking for the forum won't struggle to find it, we show up as one of the top results when googling "Onewheel Forum". That said google decided to link to a random point in the XS thread as the main link and I can't figure out how to make it not be that page... probably some SEO guff.

Was planning on doing it to my own NAS but after a bit of thought I figured best not have the site anywhere near my personal network for both security and privacy concerns on both ends so a backup plan has been configured with the hosting company itself meaning the data never leaves the data-centre.

Been wanting to configure the backup since day 1 but there was an additional cost to it so have been hesitating. However seeing as the forum clearly has shown it is wanted and presumably will see more use once public it only feels right to make sure it's protected.

Next up is setting up another server for the archive and start publishing the old topics as I merge them one by one. Still need to find a way to optimise the pages since in the current form it tries to load the whole page 💀

This was a default limitation of the web server responsible for interpreting inbound traffic and delegating it to the website more so than NodeBB itself. Quick change in the config and a reload is all that took.

If you'd like this raising a little more let me know :)
